Chennai Super Kings won by 27 runs.
Player of the match: Faf du Plessis
That's all we have from the IPL 2021 season. It's been a pleasure bringing the updates from grand T20 tournament for you all. This is Pratyush Rohra, signing off on behalf of Shashwat Kumar and the rest of the team from Sportskeeda. Don't go too far out though. The T20 World Cup is just around the corner. Make sure you tune in for that, starting Sunday. Party long into the night with the whistle podu, CSK fans. See you all on Sunday. Until then, goodnight and goodbye! Take care.
Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah present the trophy to MS Dhoni. The CSK players patiently wait for their moment. MSD hands the trophy to Deepak Chahar... AND OFF GO THE FIREWORKS AND CONFETTIS! The four-time champions are reached the promised land once more. A fitting end to the campaign for one of the best sides in the history of the IPL. The dancing celebrations are in full flow and the party will go long into the night.
MS Dhoni (winning captain): Before I start talking about CSK, it's important to talk about KKR. If any team deserves to win this year, it was KKR. It wasn't easy for them to come back in the manner they did. We shuffled a few players and used them in a different way. We had match-winners in different stages and others were chipping in. Every final is special but also if you look at the stats, we are most consistent team to lose the final. I feel its important to come back strong in the knockout stages and don't let opponents in the game. That was a conscious effort. I hope CSK can keep doing that for years to come. Frankly, no conversations. We don't really talk a lot. More one to one conversations in practice sessions. As cricketers, I feel our practice session have been really good and that's where we did our best. Thanks to the team. You can't win without them. But also individual performances can help you in the knockout games. Its about ensuring that if you're playing a good knock, to make the most of it. I would love to thank the CSK fans. Even when we played in South Africa, we have always got a good number of CSK fans. That's what we crave for. Thanks to all of them. It feels like Chepauk and it feels like we are playing in Chennai. Hopefully, we will be back next year. It depends on BCCI(on staying with CSK). With two teams coming in, there are various factors. We have to decide. It's not about me and CSK. The franchise has to make a decision and we have to take a hard look at the people who can contribute for the years to come. I still haven't left (Cheekily adds MSD when Harsha Bhogle asks him about the legacy he's left behind).
Stephen Flemming (CSK head coach): We have got a number of finals but getting over the line is what you want to conquer. The four year cycle finishing off well is rewarding. We have been different compared to other teams. Our experienced names have stepped up along with the youth. We are of a gut feel side. A little bit old school instead of the analytics. A little bit back to the future but it works for us. It's a wonderful competition. The years tick by and I'm very proud to be with one franchise and have the success.
Eoin Morgan (the losing captain): I am extremely proud of the fight that we have shown. Things did not start off well but the fight epitomizes the Kolkata fight. The support we have enjoyed from our owners has been outstanding. The support from the fans has been amazing as well, even after the first leg. Today, it just proved to be a game too many. (On Gill and Iyer) I think they have been outstanding. Gill is a classy cricketer, Venkatesh has a huge future ahead of him. He has a good head on his shoulders and the two have been the cornerstone of our batting. (On Rahul Tripathi) He left everything out there. Unfortunately, he had an injury today but he always tries to contribute in whichever way he can
Brendon McCullum (the losing coach): We are super proud of what all the guys did. We were outplayed by the better team and congratulations to CSK. Just an amazing journey, a wonderful story that we can all remember. When you fall at the final hurdle, there is always a sense of what if. The style of play that we were able to establish in the second half and the young Indian boys at the top of the order were absolutely superb. We hope to continue playing the same way next season. We appreciate all the support that we are getting and hopefully this is something to build on
Orange cap winner is Ruturaj Gaikwad for his 635 runs in 16 games - 1 hundred, 4 fifties.
Harshal Patel also collects the MVP of the season. What an impact he's had this year!
Dwayne Bravo collects the Purple Cap for Harshal Patel. Very fitting that it's the man whose record Harshal Patel has levelled that is collecting the trophy on his behalf.. "Thank you very much for this award. Winning the purple cap means a lot to me personally. Qualifying for the next stage would be great but that's how the game goes. I want to thank my team and support staff for backing me."
Harshal Patel wins the gamechanger of the season award. Of course, he's also the purple cap holder. "Thank you everyone for nominating me. It was a great season for me, and we played some great cricket," says Harshal in a prerecorded message.
Super striker of the season is Shimron Hetmyer.
Ravi Bishnoi wins the award for the best catch of the season. Deepak Chahar collects the award on his behalf. It's his blinder in Ahmedabad against KKR.

"I am really happy on winning this award. I will always remember that catch. Thank you very much for your support," says Bishnoi from a recording.
Ruturaj Gaikwad wins the emerging player of the season award. Orange cap, IPL title, and now this. He's had some season, has young Ruturaj Gaikwad!
Faf du Plessis (Player of the match): Great day. I'm really grateful for today. My 100th appearance in the IPL. I have loved my time here, it is a great place to play cricket. Number four in the trophy cabinet is really good. Ruturaj is a special talent. He's got a great head on his shoulders, which is the most important thing. He is humble and wants to keep getting better and he is getting better. He has a great future ahead.
Here's the winning moment for the Yellow Army, in the beautiful slow-mo IPL music that makes every video a touch better.
Suresh Raina didn't play today. However, his importance over the years can't be overstated enough, especially in the successes that CSK have enjoyed. And, if this indeed was the end of the CSK-Suresh Raina story, this has been quite some journey!
The stage is being set while the players share smiles and take pictures. Hang about for the post-match interviews and title celebrations.
