159 might not have been the most threatening total on paper, but given the double-paced nature of the deck, the Chepauk Super Gillies might have felt they were in with a chance. That belief strengthened once Vimal Khumar top-edged one off Rahil Shah second over and departed, but the Super Gillies were caught completely off-guard with what transpired next.

Ravichandran Ashwin decided to walk in with one thing in mind - exploit the powerplay overs. And so he did - Ashwin raced to 32 within the span of three overs after walking in, and all the momentum in the world lied with the Dindigul Dragons. The crowd were delighted with the show from the veteran Indian tweaker, and while Ashwin had his moment of madness - escaping a run out scare - he did his job perfectly, taking the Dragons to 54 at the end of 6.

The two batters proceeded to gather further control in the game - having succeeded in finding the boundary almost every over, Shivam and Ashwin rotated strike seamlessly, barely breaking a sweat. Shivam gradually began taking the attack on, reaching his fifty after his skipper. It took a really special effort from Jagadeesan to get rid of Ashwin, and that seemed to spark a turnaround.

Baba Indrajith was run out next ball, and the Super Gillies were in with a sniff. The Dragons still had Shivam Singh, and he gradually proceeded to bring the required rate closer to a run-a-ball. There were more moments of madness in between - Shivam survived a run out chance, and a simple chance offered by Sarath Kumar was shelled.

Shivam nicked behind off Tanwar in the 17th over, sparking a bit of panic amongst the Dragons' camp. Things got a little tense as the Dragons required 16 off the last two overs, thanks to some top-class death bowling from the likes of Prem Kumar and Abhishek Tanwar. A big blow from Subodh Bhati eased the nerves, but there still was a bit of drama to come.

A frantic sequence of events followed. Sarath Kumar tried to win the game with a six - twice - he was inexplicably dropped by Ferrario the first time, but picked out Aparajith at long on with 5 to get off 6. It almost seemed like a last ball-thriller was inevitable, but Dinesh Raj picked a gap at cover to seal it with a ball to spare.

Ah - there were hiccups aplenty towards the latter half of the chase, but the Dragons prevail on home turf!

19.5 Rahil Shah to S Dinesh Raj, FOUR! Dinesh Raj hits the winning runs as Dindigul Dragons win by 4 wickets and qualify for the second qualifier. Dinesh makes some room and drives this crisply past the extra cover fielder. Huffing and puffing to the victory target but it's the win which counts in the end.

Drama, drama... more and more drama! For the second time, Sarath tries to finish the match with a six, doesn't get the desired connection once again, and holes out this time!

19.1 Rahil Shah to C Sarath Kumar, WICKET! The game is not over yet folks as Sarath Kumar departs. Was a full toss from Rahil a tad outside off, Sarath's eyes lit up there as he tried to finish it off in one blow. Goes down on one knee and ends up slicing it straight down the throat of the long on fielder, he was aware where the boundary cushions where and takes it comfortably.

Surely, there seems to be a problem with the lighting towards the opposite side of that mid wicket region. No other way to describe the botched chance from Ferrario this time - he got into the best possible position and let it through his palms.

Was a full toss around the middle stump, Sarath tries to finish it off in style, swings across the line but doesn't get anywhere close to the contact he was after, cue ends this and offers a relatively straightforward catch to the deep midwicket fielder, luckily there was a fieder backing up who keeps it to a single.

Bhati connects this time, much to the relief of his dugout! Gee whiz - that was a humongous blow!
