It's two-in-two for the Kings. Yesterday they have to work a bit to get their first win against the Gladiators but they didn't break a sweat against Dambulla Giants today. It was a one-sided tussle throughout but let's hope the second match of the day between Galle Gladiators and Kandy Falcons live up to the expectations. Switch tabs in less than an hour to catch the live updates, but for now, it's time to end the coverage here. Until next time, this is Pragadeesh and Bidipto signing off
Thisara Perera (Jaffna Kings captain): I think it's good for us and I have to mention our bowlers for doing a good job on this track. They have so many left-handers and that's the reason why the attack was spin-heavy
Dasun Shanaka (Dambulla Giants Captain): It's disappointing but we didn't do our best in the batting. We threw wickets at regular intervals. They bowled well plus we didn't bat well and that's were we lost today
Sadeera Samarawickrama has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 62 off only 44 balls!
Sadeera Samarawickrama: I am really happy to deliver today after getting this opportunity, having worked really hard. Actually, I had nothing to lose today, but now that I have made the most of this chance, makes me feel really happy.
It is time for the post-match presentation!
Jaffna Kings beat Dambulla Giants by 9 runs Sadeera Samarawickrama 62(44) | Jordan Cox 43(22) Maheesh Theekshana 3-20(4) | Noor Ahmed 28-1(3.4)
Turned out to be a quite comprehensive victory for the Kings as they thrash the Giants by 9 wickets. The Kings' spinners caused the damage early on and having two specialised test innings in their armory, it was a big surprise that Shanaka didn't let Ramesh Mendis bowl on this track. Chaturanga de Silva did cause few problems but the other bowlers were taken to cleaners by Samarawickrama, who played a sensational innings and remained unbeaten on 62 runs
Avishka Fernando, meanwhile, complimented his partner at the other end and he too got to his half-century as the Kings' openers made this pitch look flat throughout the chase.
15.4 Noor Ahmad to Ashan Randika, FOUR RUNS! JAFFNA KINGS GET THEIR SECOND WIN, COMFORTABLY! Short down leg and clipped around to the fine-leg area off the back foot, using the pace, for a boundary!
Ashan Randika, LHB, walks in at no.3
A Siuuu celebration from Jordan Cox and there's something to smile about for the Giants
15.3 Noor Ahmad to Avishka Fernando, WELL WELL! THAT IS OUT! Good length ball on off, googly and a big heave across the line results in a miss of the shot! The third umpire was called in play for a stumping chance, but the back foot of Avishka was back inside the crease when the bails were taken off by the keeper but well well well! The third man thinks otherwise! He gives Avishka OUT, STUMPED!
Avishka Fernando st Jordan Cox b Noor Ahmad 51 (49b, 4x4, 1x6)
15.2 Noor Ahmad to Sadeera Samarawickrama, fuller on middle-and-leg, worked around to backward square-leg from the front pad, for a single.
15.1 Noor Ahmad to Avishka Fernando, good length ball outside off, swept away on one knee to wide long-on, for a fine stop in the deep, to keep it to one!
Avishka Fernando wasn't as aggressive as his partner at the other end, but he complimented him well by scoring boundaries at regular intervals. Just one hit away now
