So, Gujarat Titans notch up yet another win at their home ground as they are now 2 from 3 while SRH have lost their second match out of 3. The action keeps coming thick and fast in the IPL as it is a double header Sunday. DC have won the toss and chosen to bat first in Vizag against CSK, you can follow the game here. This is Sourabh and Rudransh taking your leave, ciao!
Mohit Sharma has been adjudged as the Player of the Match, here are his words - Thank you sir for reminding me that I’m getting older (laughs). The important thing is to using the variations according to the game situation. Every bowler has some variations but what matters is when and how to use it. The field placement is very important when you have two balls in mind, the batters may be ready for the slower ball but they may not be ready for the slower short ball wide of the wicket. Dew is something we cannot control, we practice bowling with a wet ball. I enjoy it when the going is good and I try to sit back and reflect after the match gets over. Rashid and Noor bowled well, we came back nicely in the last few overs and that helped us restrict them
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans captain) - To be able to win 2 matches at home is great. Our next match is at home too and then a few away games, so hopefully we can get some momentum. The way our bowlers bowled in the middle overs was really good. Rashid bhai is world-class and Darshan also bowled really well. He (Mohit Sharma) is such an experiences bowler. it is not easy bowl back to back overs, sometimes 3 too but he comes in and nails the yorkers. The pitch was on the slower side and he made use of the conditions really well. The ball was there to be hit but it hit the bottom of my bat (on his dismissal). We saw the pitch and thought 160-170 would be a good score. All the bowlers bowled well and credit to them, Everyone is playing their roles well really happy. He (Miller) is not injured, just a few cramps.
Time for the post-match presentations!
Sai Sudharsan: The contribution helped the team to win, so I am very happy. In this wicket, it was difficult to play the fast-bowlers when they were pushing it into the wicket. But we knew they had to bring the spinner so we waited for it. It was great contribution from Mohit and Rashid bhai who helped prevent 10-15 runs which made it easier for us. Playing in front of the home crowd is helping us. Everyone wants to get more runs but I am just focussing on contributing to make the team win, milestones will follow on their own.
Pat Cummins (SRH Captain): It was a good match but we were 10-15 short. I think they bowled well. We lost a couple of extra wickets. No 50+ score from us unlike the first two games, which happens. The wicket was slow, we knew we needed to get the slower-ones in. I thought the wicket played pretty much the same in both innings. It's T20 cricket. We had a fantastic first couple of games. Just need the boys to get going.
MATCH SUMMARY
Gujarat Titans won by 7 wickets
Sai Sudarshan 45(36) | Mohit Sharma 3/25(4) Abdul Samad 29(14) | Shahbaz Ahmed 2/20(2)
The scorecard suggests that this was a close match but in reality it has been a clinical and comprehensive run chase for Gujarat Titans who continue their dominance over SRH in IPL history.
The score of 162 was always under par and the GT batters made sure that it indeed proved to be the same as they got home with 5 deliveries to spare and 7 wickets in hand.
This match was a classical case of the chasing team having the advantage of knowing what the score was and pacing their innings accordingly learning from the play in the first innings.
GT openers Gill and Saha gave them a brisk start and ensured that they were ahead of the rate before Saha perished in an attempt to accelerate. Gill was joined by Sai Sudarshan and both the young Indian batters displayed great maturity and composure in taking their team close to the target.
Gill could not take it to the end as he threw his wicket away but then in walked Miller and he showed his quality for the first time in this season. He was hobbling but that did not deter him from taking his team past the finishing line as he was the calm head for GT and ensured that there were no further hiccups after Sai Sudarshan departed.
For SRH, the bowlers were decent but they did not have enough to bowl at. Cummins, Markande and Shahbaz got a wicket each but it was the 24-run 16th over from Markande which changed the complexion of the match.
Earlier in the piece, SRH had got off to a rapid start of their own with Head and Abhishek Sharma going strong for them. But, unlike GT, none of their batters could carry their innings deep as they kept losing wickets throughout their innings and that cost them the game.
Abdul Samad's cameo was vital in taking SRH past 160 but a lot of credit needs to be given to the GT bowlers, specially Mohit Sharma with 3 wickets, who made use of the two-paced conditions really well.
19.1 Jaydev Unadkat to David Miller, SIXXXXX! FINISHES OFF WITH A FLAIR! Slow, full and wide, reaches out to it with a stretch of his hand and hits beautifully through the line over long off! A massive win for GT, a clinical chase that'll give them a lot of confidence.
So, we are going to the last over with just 1 run needed as scores are level in what has been a rather comfortable chase for the home team.

18.6 Pat Cummins to Vijay Shankar, short and down the leg, pulls it to deep fine leg whose throw is so bad that SRH don't even run-out a hobbling Miller wanting to take a couple. Poor all along.
18.5 Pat Cummins to David Miller, short and wide, and doesn't come to the bat. Miller waits and waits some more before just tapping it to walk to the other end
A change of ball at the last moment, so the old one will not be hit for the winning runs
18.4 Pat Cummins to David Miller, excellent yorker right in the blockhole, 146.1 clicks, Miller digs it back out
Just 4 needed now
18.3 Pat Cummins to Vijay Shankar, full on the off-stump, drills it to long on
18.2 Pat Cummins to David Miller, short and slow on the fourth stump, pulls it to deep square leg and hobbles to the other end
18.1 Pat Cummins to Vijay Shankar, short and wide, pulls it in the air over mid-wicket for one
The writing is on the wall as far as this match is concerned and we should be heading into the last over of the match in all likelihood. GT will be having an eye on the NRR as well ow that the win is almost guaranteed.
