Commentary

Right, MI have done everything in their power to keep their qualification hopes alive and all eyeballs will be on the second game of the night as GT bowl first against RCB. Whatever be the result of that match, it has been a season to remember for MI in the absence of their dangerous trio of bowlers. As for the Sunrisers, this brings curtains on their campaign which has largely been a disappointing one despite having one of the strongest squads on paper. Cameron Green (Player of the Match): Obviously it was a great partnership with Rohit. He's greatly experienced in the IPL and he helped me. The whole set-up has been awesome and been really well looked after. Intent at the top is what I've learned. When me and Rohit are batting it's awesome knowing SKY is after you. With Polly there, he helps with the range-hitting too. When I had 20 to get, I just told SKY to finish it but when I had a couple of runs left, just managed to creep over the line.

Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians captain): We wanted to win the game and not worry about what happens elsewhere because you can only do what you can control and hope for the best. (Did he sent Ashish Nehra a text?) I haven't spoken to anyone. If we don't go through we have ourselves to blame for it. If we go through I'll give all credit to the boys. The last thing you want is to be dependent on other games. Last year we did a big favor to RCB (laughs). I hope the result comes our way. We did a lot of good things as we went along. Obviously we didn't start well - we lost a couple of games at the start and then won three on the trot. Crucial games that we lost, the crucial moments - if I had to look back, there were a lot of moments like that. The game against Punjab we needed 34 off 18 balls. We could have played well there. And the last game against LSG as well we had the game in our hand. The guys want to go out there and do their best all the time. Sometimes it just doesn't come along.

Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians): (On taking the single to bring Green on strike) I think that was the hardest single that I ever took and watched the ball so closely (grins). But I think he deserved the hundred. I said we don't have anything for net run-rate so let's get his hundred. We have not chased 200 for the first time. Even after 16 overs we knew that if we could curtail them to 200-210 we can achieve the target. The mindset was simple - to go out, express yourself and have fun. (On his turnaround in form) When I was sitting in the room I was thinking what has happened suddenly but at the same time I knew what has worked for me, what has given me success. That balance is very important in life. (Did he open the face on THAT six over third man against Gujarat Titans) Yes I did (grins). I think I played that shot more than a hundred times and I knew I could execute it. Very happy the way the season has gone. It would have been great if we would have qualified by now but it's fine, it's part of the game.

Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Hyderabad captain): Ultimately not the campaign we would have hoped for at the start. Decent effort today with the bat. Everyone knows that at this venue and against this opposition you need to get a bit more than 200. Unfortunately ended up on the wrong side today. It's been a great challenge. Obviously a lot of learning along the way. We've got a great group of guys and they do give their best. We're a team that is slightly on the younger side but we're a great bunch going around. If things don't go well obviously it's under the microscope but it's been a great learning curve. (On Vivrant and Agarwal) Yeah great - like I mentioned at the toss it was an opportunity for some of the players and they certainly grabbed it. Someone like Klassy, Bhuvi - really happy for how they've played throughout this season. Some positives from the season and hopefully we can pick up from there next season.

Clinical from Mumbai Indians and they close yet another chase with plenty of deliveries remaining! Oh what a performance this has been! It's not often this season that you would've heard that Mumbai's death bowling has done the job for them but tonight, they will have to credit this win to their death bowlers. SRH were around 20 runs short on this track and Mumbai Indians made quick work of that.

The chase began with intent as always for Mumbai Indians as Kishan and Rohit tried to go after the bowlers. Although Kishan fell early, Rohit stuck around despite not being able to middle the ball. Cameron Green - he was paid the big bucks and he's delivered on the big stage. This is a knock that Wankhede will remember! He came out all guns blazing and muscled the ball to all parts of the ground. He ensured that Rohit got all the time that he needed to settle in and once the skipper got past his initial struggles, the Hitman lit the stage on fire as well, scoring a half-century of his own.

Green continued about his merry ways while Rohit lost his wicket towards the end. However, Surya provided the finishing touches and stuck around enough to see the match through, and spectate Green's century as well! In the end, a comprehensive performance from Mumbai Indians sees them have a shot at making the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals have officially been eliminated and now all eyes will be on RCB vs GT as that will decide which of Mumbai or Bangalore go through to the playoffs.

Slower full length delivery around the off stump. Green takes a step forward and works it with a flick past mid-on as it races away towards the ropes. Off comes the helmet as he punches the air in delight to celebrate his maiden hundred in the format while also sealing a crucial win for his side. Mumbai Indians win by 8 wickets with 2 overs to spare to stay alive. This also means that Rajasthan Royals are officially out of the playoff race!
