That brings us to an end of our coverage from the opening game of BBL 2020-21. So that's all from me, Prashanth Satish and my colleague, Shashwat Kumar. We hope you had a good time today and until next time, Goodbye!
Tim David has been awarded the Man of the Match for his 58(33) that powered the Hurricanes to 178.

Tim David:
It wasn't an ideal start but the openers are good players and that happens sometimes. We batted well at the end and bowlers bowled well. The new guys coming in have bonded well and have contributed together as a team tonight
The Sixers will go back to the drawing board and try to figure out, how have they managed to lose this contest. They were in absolute control of this run chase for the major part of that innings but have managed to end on the wrong side of the result at the end.

They lost Josh Philippe early on in the piece to an inswinger from James Faulkner but recovered quickly from that loss courtesy of a brilliant partnership from James Vince and Jack Edwards. The duo put together a 116-run-stand for the second wicket and kept the Sixers in complete control of the run chase.

Their partnership will come under a bit of scrutiny in the latter half as they managed to only get 18 runs off the two overs in the Power Surge considering they had two well-set batsmen in at that stage. They lost both the set batsmen in the space of 6 balls and never really recovered from that loss at the end.

Meredith and Faulkner were the pick of the bowlers for the Hurricanes as they finished with figures of 2/29 and 2/22 respectively. Nathan Ellis and Scott Boland picked up a wicket apiece. Sixers have something to be happy about though as they have already opened their account in the points table thanks to the Bash Boost bonus point.

cricket ball icon Scott Boland
19.6 Scott Boland to Ben Dwarshuis, another full delivery outside off stump. Ben goes deep into his crease and drills that one down the ground towards the man at long on for a single. Hurricanes win by 16 runs!
19.5 Scott Boland to Ben Dwarshuis, full delivery outside off stump. Ben gives himself plenty of room and muscles the ball down the ground past the fielder at long off for a boundary! Too little too late though!
19.4 Scott Boland to Carlos Brathwaite, another top yorker on middle and leg stump. Brathwaite does not get the room to free his arms and squirts it off the bottom of the bat towards deep mid wicket for one
The game is virtually over unless there is something extremely dramatic!
19.3 Scott Boland to Ben Dwarshuis, full delivery outside off stump. Ben goes deep into his crease and powers the ball down the ground towards long on for just another run
Ben Dwarshuis comes in to bat for the Sixers
19.2 Scott Boland to Daniel Christian, OUT! THAT SHOULD BE THAT! Pin point yorker on leg stump. Christian backs away and looks to manipulate the ball through the off side but can't generate the power he desires as he plonks it straight to the fielder in the circle at extra cover
24 needed off 5 balls!
19.1 Scott Boland to Carlos Brathwaite, low full toss on leg stump. Brathwaite clears his front leg and heaves it away towards the fielder on the fence at deep mid wicket for just a single
9 runs coming off the 19th. They need something extremely special to get over the line in this contest now and make no mistake they have two special people out in the middle but is it asking for too much?

25 runs needed off 6 balls!

Scott Boland to bowl the final over!

18.6 Nathan Ellis to Daniel Christian, OH! Searing yorker outside off stump. Christian shuffles across his crease and looks to mow it over the on side but is late on the shot as the ball whistles past the bat
18.5 Nathan Ellis to Daniel Christian, FOUR! Slower delivery on a length on middle and leg stump. Christian gets inside the line and flicks the ball over short fine leg for four
18.4 Nathan Ellis to Daniel Christian, high full toss on off stump. Christian is extremely late on the shot and chunks it down the ground towards long off before scampering across for a brace
18.3 Nathan Ellis to Daniel Christian, length delivery outside off stump. Christian goes deep into his crease and drills the ball down the ground towards the fielder at long off for a couple of runs
