Daniel Hughes has been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.

Daniel Hughes: These totals can actually be tricky, but, we made sure that we hit the gaps, rotated strike and picked up the boundaries when they came along. I thought we played the cutters pretty well but it held in the pitch a bit to make it more interesting. Our bowlers adapted to the conditions well enough and that helped us batters a lot!

It turned out to be a very tight game in the end but the Sydney Sixers did hold their nerves and ended up winning the game by 6 wickets. The target was a below-par one and sensible batting would have taken them over the finish line. Josh Philippe came out with a positive frame of mind, scoring 16 off 13 deliveries while Vince departed early. Riley Meredith who accounted for the wicket had to head back to the dressing room after sustaining an injury.

Philippe couldn't quite continue the good start and Corey Anderson made the breakthrough. The required rate kept climbing a bit but the duo of Daniel Hughes and Moises Henriques steadied the ship with a brilliant stand. Both batters took their time initially and then kept rotating the strike. Hughes continued the good work and stayed there till the end. Henriques departed at a crucial juncture of the game and it required another good effort from Jordan Silk to get them over the finish line.

Silk was dismissed with their team within touching distance of the victory target. In the end, it was Hughes who smashed a six to bring the equation down with Tom Curran eventually finishing it off with a boundary in the final over. Corey Anderson was the pick of the bowlers for the Hurricanes, finishing with figures of 2/10.

Curran finishes it off in style and in the context of a shortened season, this will be a much needed victory for the Hobart Hurricanes. They lost wickets in clumps and never got partnerships in the middle which eventually led to their downfall. The Sixers win by 6 wickets. The Hurricanes needed everything to go their way in the second innings to harbor hopes of winning this.

19.2 Chris Jordan to Tom Curran, FINISHED WITH A BOUNDARY! SIXERS GET THE SECOND WIN OF THIS CAMPAIGN! Full around off-stump. Curran stayed deep in the crease and crouched down low to loft it over extra cover and find the boundary to end the match in style!

19.1 Chris Jordan to Tom Curran, full and on the pads this time. Curran tried to flick it away through square-leg but missed it! No leg-bye to point possible though, on this occasion.

A massive blow from Daniel Hughes to end the over and he has more or less sealed this for the Sixers. Brilliant strokemaking from Hughes who will remain unbeaten on 60 off 50 deliveries. Just one more needed to the Sixers to seal the win.
