Australia won by 3 wickets
Player of the match:
For now, that's it from us at Sportskeeda! Thank you for joining our live coverage and until next time, it's a goodbye from us!
That's a wrap from the first T20I from Vizag! Australia go 1-0 up in the series and can't lose the series from here on. India will want to come back strong in the second and final game. Remember, the last two India-Australia series have ended up being 1-1. Will this go the same way? We'll have to wait until Wednesday as the teams move to Bengaluru for the last T20I.
Nathan Coulter-Nile is the man of the match for his spell of 3/26.
India's total of 126 was never going to be enough. The middle-order failed to stand up and deliver. Everyone kept coming and going and in the end, Dhoni found it hard to find the fence as well with the lower order as he refused a lot of singles. But the bowlers brought India back in the game and made things really interesting but in the end, Australia held their nerve as they won a nail-biter. They take an unassailable 1-0 lead and will be pleased with the way their bowlers and Maxwell, in particular, performed.
Chasing an under-par total of 127, Australia lost a couple of early wickets as India started really well with the ball. However, Glenn Maxwell turned things around as he struck a sublime half-century to put Australia back on track and they were cruising at one point. However, his dismissal triggered a collapse and Australia lost their way. A fabulous penultimate over from Bumrah (2 runs and 2 wickets) reduced the equation to 14 off the final over. Jhye Richardson and Pat Cummins held their nerve as Umesh Yadav's execution wasn't upto the mark. But credit to the fast bowling duo who batted very smartly and took the Aussies over the line.
Phew, what a game! What a thriller!
Pat Cummins has done it . A decent yorker from Umesh but Cummins just taps it to long-on and rushes back for two and the throw was at the wrong end. The Aussies are all smiles and Cummins and Richardson seem to be over the moon.

Jasprit Bumrah has turned the game! Pin-point yorker and he's uprooted Coulter-Nile's stumps. Just two runs to go with two wickets in that over. Australia are seven down now. Bumrah finishes with figures of 3/16!

18.6 OUT! Bowled. Jasprit Bumrah to Nathan Coulter-Nile. Yorker, to leg no foot movement driving, missed to.
Handscomb goes and Australia are making mess of this chase! Handscomb runs down the track but Bumrah shortened his length and the former could just manage a top-edge and Dhoni takes the catch. India are back in the game here.
18.5 OUT! Caught. Jasprit Bumrah to Peter Handscomb. Back of a length, off stump on the back foot hooking, top edge to leg slip, by Dhoni.
Two dot balls and two singles off the first four deliveries! Things are getting very tight here. This is turning into a low-scoring thriller! 14 off 8 required.
