Commentary

Right! India maintain their unbeaten streak at Indore. Steve Smith's decision to bowl first really backfired as the Indian batters played freely and posted a humongous total, and in reply, Australia really struggled to cope with the pressure of chasing a big target and after the rain interruption, the pitch became a rank-turner at one end and the batters went clueless against Ashwin & Jadeja

Even though it was entertaining, Abbott and Hazlewood's partnership only helped the visitors to reduce the deficit of the defeat. It was all India through and through. Now, the action shifts to Rajkot and it's interesting to see whether Rahul & co inflict a clean-sweep. With this, we are ending our coverage. Shreyas Iyer is the Player of the Match for his 90-ball 105. Here's what he has to say: (How is his body?) It was a roller-coaster ride to be honest. Feeling fantastic from within. I can't complain about how I've been working so hard over the last few months. It was a lonely space but I'm thankful to my friends and family. Feels exciting to be back in the side. When I mention lonely space, I was seeing matches on the TV and personally felt I wanted to be there and participate. I'm grateful to be believing in myself and lifting myself when the chips were down. I didn't let the little pains and niggles get into my head because I knew what I was aiming for. I was able to execute my plans today perfectly. When I went in to bat my plan was to play in the V. Not complicate things because I was batting brilliantly in the nets. I kept telling myself I need to bat as much as I can in the middle. That's how I can give confidence to myself. I'm actually flexible - I'm ready to bat at any position, whatever the team requires. Obviously Virat Kohli is one of the greats of the game and I can't steal that position (number 3) from him but there's a lot to learn as well. I have to keep the momentum going and see to it that I maintain the same rhythm throughout.

KL Rahul (India Captain): I didn't think the wicket would spin this much when I went into bat or saw the wicket in the morning. But the quality of finger spinners in your team does help you. Defending 400 gives you a bit of confidence and It was a different game after it started spinning. (Deciding the Playing XI) It's a headache for the coach and Rohit when he comes back. The roles are clear whoever gets picked up. Sitting out can be hard after scoring a lot of runs and that's how it works. We dropped a couple of catches and it's hard to get used to the lights when you are traveling every two days. Fielding is directly related to how fit and fresh you are. The guys coming back from the break need some game time. They have been playing a lot of cricket but it's important for them to score some runs and get to bowl a few overs. Everyone has to wait for the opportunity.

Steven Smith (Australia captain): Potentially seeing the wicket spin towards the end. When we came here it looked like a pretty good wicket. Obviously changed a little bit but credit to India, I thought they batted beautifully. They took the game away from us and then KL and Surya the thing we know they're known to do. I said before it looks good for chasing so that was our theory. But it changed a bit after the rain as well - it became stickier and started to spin. It was always challenging chasing 400 but we were a good way off. We've certainly lost a few now in South Africa and here. Few things we have to sort out and once we get there we know we're a good side. Hopefully we can turn it around in the next game. We'll wait and see (if we experiment again). We've got a few days now. Both teams are working towards the World Cup, no secret there. India have outplayed us in the first two.

Shubman Gill: Feels good. When you get to a start and convert it into a big one it feels good. Also really satisfied with the way we are peaking as a team and thankful to have momentum at the right time. (On his power game) It depends on the situation - I don't really sense power but there's definitely a lot of confidence. If the situation comes I can give myself time and know that I can cover up later. The way KL and Surya came they kept the momentum going. 400 on any wicket is definitely a very difficult task for the opposition. And then the bowlers came and did the job for us. (Any particular shot he liked the most?) I think the six that I hit off Green straight down the ground, that was special for me.

Fireworks taking place at Indore as India registered a thumping victory to seal the series. After posting a mammoth total on the board, Prasidh Krishna removed Matthew Short and Steve Smith in consecutive deliveries to put the opposition on the back foot. Soon after, Marnus joined hands with Warner and the duo kept the scoreboard ticking and helped Australia recover from the early setback. After more than an hour of rain delay, this pitch all of a sudden was assisting the spinners once the game restarted

Marnus was bamboozled by Ashwin's magical carrom ball and it looked like Warner had all the answers to this Indian bowling attack until Ashwin got rid of him. It was unfortunate that he didn't review that as the replay confirmed that he got a clear inside edge. Soon after, Jadeja switched ends and joined the act by picking up a couple of wickets and everyone thought this game could be all over rapidly

However, in stark contrast to everyone's expectations, Abbott and Hazlewood came up with a couple of lusty blows and the Indian bowlers hardly found any clue to stop the mini-onslaught. The ball kept sailing to the crowd and even though it wasn't scary for the hosts, it was really entertaining until it lasted. Shami ended the partnership by dismissing Hazlewood with a beautiful slow delivery before Jadeja rattled Abbott's stumps to finish the formalities
