India and coming back from losing situations has become too good a trend now. Down and out after that first game but the men in blue have pulled off a comprehensive win here to square the series. A completely dominating performance, first with the ball to restrict England and then to come out and chase down the target in some style like they did. Debutant Ishan Kishan with a spectacular fifty that set the tone and then Virat Kohli getting among the runs as well, staying there till the end and finishing the job as he most often does. A  great win this and India will certainly take the momentum forward for the rest of the series. It is only getting started and with more games to come with the top two sides up against each other, we can certainly expect more thrilling games and cricketing action. Until then, a win for India to enjoy, time for England to look to bounce back as we are set for a fascinating series on cards with things levelled at the moment. We hope you enjoyed the game and we wish you a very good night!
Ishan Kishan (Player of the Match): It was my first game and credit goes to my seniors who made me feel like you have to go there and express yourself. It's not easy when you come here and play your first game against a top team. Mumbai Indians has taught me a lot. I have been there with so many senior players and they have given me very good advice and that helped me in my game and I look forward to continue to do it. I wanted to finish the game, I got a good start and was batting with the senior player who was set there. I think the shot when Tom Currran bowled me in the first ball and I smacked him for a six was the moment I felt that know I can just play according to the ball. I don't know if I am going to get this feeling again but I was just looking all over the ground and feeling happy that finally I am here and all the hard-work has paid off and it is my time to show my good game here. There was too much hunger in me and my coach's dad passed away a few days back and I think this innings was totally for him and I wanted to prove myself. I will give the credit to him for this innings.
Virat Kohli ( Indian Captain): Quite a good game for us and we ticked all the boxes that we wanted to. Specially in the first innings with the ball to give away only 34 in the last five was very smart bowling by all our bowlers. Special mention to Washi and all in all very very happy with our bowling effort and then with the bat as well convincing finish. It did come on to the bat better, precisely why we won the toss and bowled first. The slower balls stopped gripping and they bowled a bit too short, which on that surface wasn't on. Special mention to Ishan the way he batted, changed the game completely. We were one down for nothing. I tried to do what I can but then he totally took the game away from the opposition. Quality innings on debut. When you play in the IPL with such dominance like he has, against quality bowlers, he is a fearless character and he should continue to follow his instinct. He was calculated and wasn't reckless and that is what you want to see from a youngster. A counter attacking innings and then our partnership was what the team needed and he provided that.

I had to shift the focus back to the basics of the game. I have always taken pride in doing the job for the team so I am more happy about that. Just kept my eye on the ball. The management spoke to me about things. Anushka is here with me so she speaks to me about a lot of things. I had a special chat with Ab de Villiers before this game. He told me to watch the ball and that is exactly what I did.

Hardik is bowling at least three for us in games now and he has worked really hard on his fitness. He has promised and committed to the fact that he will give everything he has to be that all-rounder for and he is going to be a vital part of this team going forward. He plays for the team at all times and these kind of players are priceless.

England is a quality side we know that and you have to play at your best to beat them. They showed us how good they are in the first match. You have to precise, professional and finish the job properly.
Eoin Morgan (England Captain): At the half-way stage, we were probably in and around par. We were in the game and I thought we would have to bowl well in order to get over the line. India bowled well. The pitch was different to what it was in the first game. There was probably less pace in but full credit to India the way the bowled and restricted us. They almost put us on the backfoot from the start and we didn't manage to counter that which was disappointing. Opportunity for us to play on slow wickets where pace off the ball for both batters and bowlers is challenging. I'm glad we played on this wicket and just a bit disappointed the way we played. Statistically there is always advantage in chasing and particularly if there is a bit of dew around. Tonight there was absolutely no due and full credit to India for the way they played. Early on particularly in those first ten overs  we need to counter the oppositions attack and hopefully post a winning total. Two guys aggressive as they can. Jos opening the batting for us strikes at 150 and averages 50 so there's not a lot you can tell a guy who does that. Great to see Jason Roy in form when he plays like that he is very intimidating at the crease. He would have liked to kick on today. Wasn't to be. We won't be practicing. We were prepared coming into the series and we know what we are going to play against the next game, on the red soil and it's probably going to turn. These are the challenges we want to play against and learn as much as we can.
Virat Kohli also becomes the first player to 3000 T20I runs with this match-winning innings!
Washington Sundar: To be honest this wicket is a much better wicket. than the game we played before. We did a very good job to defend them to 164 and the wicket wasn't doing much even in the first innings. There was little bit of due also and it was a very good toss to win. Of course we batted really well and very good to win such a game.

There is so much challenge and pressure but that's when you get lot of satisfaction as well so very good way to start the first couple of games for India. (On the Bairstow wicket) Before the wicket delivery, me and Virat had a good chat about what to do because Bairstow was trying to go hard right from the first ball. We thought it would be better to take the pace off and I though it would be good if I could generate some bounce as well. Happy to have gotten him out.

We didn't really talk much about the loss. We knew where we wanted to improve individually and just wanted to play together and we know we will have one off game playing such a big series. How we bounce back matter and I'm really happy to have won such a game.

Very happy for Ishan the way he played this being his first game the way he batted was amazing. Pant is also doing really well for India and really happy to play along with these guys again.
Virat Kohli then finishing this match off in style and who better than the skipper to take the side past the line! What an innings this has been from him coming back amongst the runs and the trend of India losing the first game of a series and then coming back strong continuing here. A 7-wicket win for India!
17.5 Chris Jordan to Virat Kohli, SIX! KOHLI FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! Short ball on stump line and Kohli has timed the pull to great effect and sends this one over the fine-leg boundary, India level the series 1-1
17.4 Chris Jordan to Virat Kohli, FOUR! What a hit, Kohli plays the flick as good as anyone in the game. Whipped this time and Kohli plays this one away to the square-leg boundary
17.3 Chris Jordan to Shreyas Iyer, full-length ball on stump line and Iyer gets this one away to the leg side for a single
17.2 Chris Jordan to Shreyas Iyer, BOUNCER! Short ball on stump line and Iyer gets into an awkward position this time as he tries to pull this one
17.1 Chris Jordan to Virat Kohli, full-toss low and angling into the pads, he feels has missed out here from his reactions. Kohli plays it to fine-leg for a single
Just the brilliance with which Virat Kohli goers about a run-chase on display here yet again. Archer the last hope for England to make something happen but that hasn't been the case. A decent over but it won't help their cause. They need wickets and it doesn't look like they are coming.

11 more needed off 18!
Over: 17 | Summary: 1 1 0 4 0 1 Bowler: Jofra Archer Score: 154/3

16.5 Jofra Archer to Virat Kohli, BOUNCER! Quick bumper this time, Kohli tries to pull this one in not the greatest of position. It was too good a delivery to make contact!
16.4 Jofra Archer to Virat Kohli, FOUR! Short of a good-length outside the off-stump and Kohli has lofted this over extra covers and that has raced over the boundary, hold your pose Kohli. What a shot!
