Pitch Report
The conditions are overcast and humid. There are some green patches on the surface, more to bind it together. Mithali Raj feels it will be good batting, with not much to offer for the bowlers.

A soggy end to what was an impressive World Cup campaign for Bangladesh. From qualifying for the tournament by the barest of margins to giving much stronger teams like South Africa and England a run for their money, Nigar Sultana and co. became the underdog that everyone wanted to see winning. Alas, they could only get over the line once. However, it goes without saying, that the learnings of this campaign will only help this young team become better.
On the other hand, India head into the semifinals with a few questions to answer — the ones stemming from Pratika Rawal's injury and Radha Yadav's sound showing. As if the challenge that they are going to face next was any less. But then, that is what sport is about — overcoming challenges. Will India be able to trounce the mighty Aussies and reach the final in this home World Cup? We will find out together.
Do join us for the semifinals — England vs South Africa on 29th October and India vs Australia on 30th October. For now, this is Darpan and Pradeep saying goodbye! See you soon.
Harmanpreet Kaur [India captain]: "The way we bowled today looks quite balanced. A lot of clarity is there. Our medical team is taking care of Pratika, they will update us soon. (On the semifinal) It is a very important game for us. I personally believe that we have played some good cricket in this tournament. Every one has contributed when required. The key is to keep enjoying the game. The way Radha bowled today will give us another option for the next game. Whatever we sought, we have achieved. Hopefully, Pratika will be fine."
Nigar Sultana [Bangladesh captain]: "It's feeling a bit bad, it will take one or two weeks to recover. First of all, how we started the tournament, we built momentum against England, Sri Lanka and South Africa. If we had well in few areas, result would've come our way. We've been working hard as a group, know each other and it helps us on the ground. Included few young players, they've given 110% and a bright future for them. We just wanted to summarise whole tournament, lot of positives to take. We will still discuss what are the areas to improve on."
10:23 PM: The match has been called off. Yet another game washed off. At this point, Team Rain makes the cut to the semis ahead of the hosts. But well, it is what it is. We will probably hear from the two captains soon. Hang around.
Team India would go back wondering what did they gain out of this dead rubber. Yes, they bossed the proceedings with the both bat and ball. However, the injury to Pratika Rawal has the potential to derail the their campaign entirely. Not that the challenge in front of them is any less.
Yes, Radha Yadav was excellent with the ball — as she usually is against Bangladesh — but then, it will be a bit baffling if she gets in the XI ahead of a Sree Charani or Sneh Rana after having sat out the entire tournament. The other bowlers will get a confidence boost, but then, the bitter truth is that this Bangladesh batting line-up is no match to the mighty Aussies. Perhaps, the biggest positives for the hosts were that earlier Renuka Thakur seemed to be in good rhythm and later, Smriti Mandhana exhibited that she is still in impressive touch.
As for Bangladesh, despite some really impressive performances throughout this tournament, they finish their campaign with a solitary win. Perhaps, their fans will find solace in the fact that this washout helps them finish above Pakistan — the team they beat — in the points table. Because they seemed well behind in this match. They were extra cautious with the bat and could not quite switch gears when the game was truncated due to rain. Even the bowlers seemed a bit erratic and the fielders were guilty of committing some errors.
Surely, this young side will take plenty of lessons from their campaign which will, hopefully, help them become a better side in the future.
10:20 PM local and IST: The covers are still firmly in place over the main square, and parts of the outfield are covered too. The rain continues to fall steadily and with good intensity — no improvement in conditions just yet.
10:05 PM: The rain has gotten heavier. The umpires call for covers. Remember, we need a minimum of 20 overs in this innings to constitute a result.
TK: "What about injury update of opener? SK team" We linked BCCI's tweet regarding it a little while back, TK. She has injured her knee and ankle and is being accessed. Scroll below to find it.
To make it worse for Bangladesh, Nigar Sultana has seemed to injured her hand in trying to gather that one. She is on her haunches, visibly in pain and the team physio is on the park.
8.4 Rabeya Khan to Amanjot Kaur, DROPPED! A sharp chance goes down begging, it's Joty again. Short outside the off-stump, Amanjot went back to cut, but finds the outside edge and went quickly to Joty's gloves, just didn't stick that.
Meanwhile, the drizzle is back.
Two reds and an amber — only clipping the leg stump. "Umpire's call" is good enough to save Amanjot.
8.3 Rabeya Khan to Amanjot Kaur, LOUD SHOUTS FOR LBW, NOT GIVEN! Would've been missing leg. Joty has a chat with Rabeya, wants to review it. Length delivery, Amanjot comes forward to play across the line of a wrong'un and misses, raps on the pad.
UltraEdge confirms clear gap between bat and ball. Ball tracker comes up, shows only TWO REDS as it was clipping the leg-stump and Bangladesh retain their review!
8.2 Rabeya Khan to Smriti Mandhana, keeps it wide on a length, Smriti had to reach and driven it to extra-cover. Misfield with a dive there and Smriti gets a single.
8.1 Rabeya Khan to Smriti Mandhana, length delivery, turned into the fourth stump. Smriti strides out, stroked it to covers.
Rabeya Khan [1-0-6-0] is back on.
Five singles without much of a fuss. India continue to march towards the target. 70 runs to win off 19 overs now.
