So that is that then. 0-0 with one game to go and the teams return to the same venue tomorrow. Third time lucky despite a murky forecast again? Do join us at 6:45 PM IST (2:15 PM local time) to find out as we keep our fingers crossed for a contest which will now be a direct one-game shootout to decide the winner of the series. We thank you dearly for your patience today and hope to see you join us once again tomorrow. For now, this is the duo of Pradeep and Sooryanarayanan taking your leave. Have a happy weekend - good night!
4:16 PM local time (8:46 PM IST): Take two ends in similar fashion - the match has officially been abandoned! Persistent rain has meant that there's just no chance of a resumption with not enough time to get the ground fit for play should the rain stop too. Alas, it's an encore of what we witnessed on Thursday and it ends as a damp squib again.
4:10 PM local (8:40 PM IST): The umpires, after a brief discussion with the ground staff, have made their way back to the dressing room. We’re still waiting on any official word regarding a possible start time.
4 PM local (8:30 PM IST): The umpires walk out for the inspection, umbrellas up — a clear sign of how persistent the rain has been. The wet outfield remains a concern as the drizzle continues to linger.
Not far from the inspection. In the meantime, you surely don't want to miss this moment when Temba Bavuma came up with an interesting celebration with the WTC mace! 👇
3:35 PM local (8:05 PM IST): It’s turned absolutely gloomy out there, with the groundsmen working tirelessly to clear the water off the covers. But with the skies looking ominous, it feels like the heavens could open up at any moment.
3:13 PM local time (7:43 PM IST): The next inspection is scheduled for 4 PM local time (8:30 PM IST). Safe to say that it's going to be a reduced game at best today. But that's better than nothing of course. Let's hope we have some positive news for you from that inspection!
Jadunath Bariha: "When will be the toss?" There's no update on that yet, Jadunath. There is some movement at the venue but the covers haven't moved from their position.
2:59 PM local time (7:29 PM IST): The latest we're hearing is that there's an inspection due any moment now. The groundsmen are removing the water off the covers too which continue to remain in place.
Pintu: "When will match start?" At this point, not anytime soon perhaps, Pintu. The rain has to stop first before the groundsmen can then spring into action.
Sheikh Aijaz: "Weather will improve. Fiirst match was cancelled due to wet outfield. Let's hope for the best. Both teams are almost same. But my support is for West Indies." We're hoping for the weather to improve ourselves, Sheikh! Keep the rain dance going!
2:52 PM local time (7:22 PM IST): No positive news yet - it's still raining in Bready. This ground doesn't have the strongest drainage facility and that doesn't augur well for some kind of a contest. But we continue to do the rain dance here!
While we await positive news from Bready, it's a good time to revisit a moment of history. That moment when South Africa were crowned World Test champions a couple of hours ago!👇
2:48 PM local (6:48 PM IST): Toss has been delayed due to wet conditions! We’ve got an update from the ground — conditions remain damp at the moment, but there’s optimism in the camp with an improvement in the weather expected as the day progresses. Fingers crossed for some quality cricket ahead!
2:32 PM local (6:32 PM IST):Hello and a warm welcome to Sportskeeda’s live coverage of the 2nd T20I between Ireland and West Indies, coming to you from Bready!
The first game turned out to be a wash ut completely, the rain played spoilsport and we're here again for the second game of the series. Let's do this one more time.
West Indies arrive here looking to reset after a tough series against England where they suffered a whitewash. They’ll be determined to set the tone early in this three-match series but will know they can’t afford to take this spirited Ireland side lightly. Ireland have the firepower and depth to challenge any opposition in this format, and at home, they’ll back themselves to make a strong statement.
Having last featured against Zimbabwe, Ireland will be eager to build momentum, sharpen their T20 credentials, and show the world the strides they've made in the shortest format.
Everything is set up for an intriguing contest as both teams look to lay down a marker.
This is Pradeep, and I’ll soon be joined by my dear friend and co-commentator Sooryanarayanan Sesha as we bring you every ball, boundary, and breakthrough from this opening clash. Stay tuned for toss and playing XI updates!
