9:25 PM local time, 1:55 AM IST | So that will be all from Lord's for tonight. Do join us again at 6:30 PM local time (11:00 PM IST) tomorrow night, as Northern Superchargers host Birmingham Phoenix at Headingley. For now, this is the pair of Darpan and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Jamie Smith (Player of the Match): "It has been a little bit difficult at home. So to do it here tonight was great. We learnt from what Rockets did in the first innings. We used the dimensions pretty well. It was a difficult pitch to get going straight away. It is nice to get some runs.
9:18 PM local time, 1:48 AM IST | London Spirit win by 21 runs!
Jamie Smith 52 (34) | Daniel Worrall - 2/32 Tom Banton 46 (31) | Marcus Stoinis - 2/27
As long as Tom Banton was there, Trent Rockets hoped. After Banton got out, things went pear-shaped for the visitors!
Joe Root struggled to find rhythm. David Willey did strike a couple of boundaries but that was just about it. And the rest of the batting just fell apart!
Tom Alsop had to retire hurt after copping a blow to the top of his nose, thankfully, he was able to walk off the field for treatment.
But the most disappointing story with the bat for the Rockets was Marcus Stoinis. He kept swinging and missing, or, swinging and mistiming. Towards the end, he smacked a couple of sixes and also managed to put one into the crowd off one hand, but, under pressure, he did not quite live up to his reputation.
From the bowling side of things, London Spirit were on top of their game! The captaincy from Kane Williamson was spot on and he rotated his bowlers really, really intelligently!
Jamie Overton pulled his adductor muscles, but continued to bowl out, making sure that he didn't put his team in any sort of danger! The change of pace and the change in length from all the other bowlers were simply brilliant!
First win of the season at home for the Spirit and a first loss of the season for the Rockets!
20.0
19.5 Liam Dawson to Marcus Stoinis, single. Spirit win! Rockets end up copping their first loss of the season. Match '13' does turn out to be unlucky for them. Once again, Stoinis backed away and Dawson went after him with a full dart. Stoinis squeezed it out towards the front of point.
19.4 Liam Dawson to Marcus Stoinis, shuffles to leg side again. Dawson follows him up by firing in a full one. Dragged to wide long-on for a couple.
Showing us his power, Marcus Stoinis. But, a bit too late!
19.3 Liam Dawson to Marcus Stoinis, POWERFUL! SIX MORE! This one goes 88m beyond the extra cover boundary. Good length, outside off. Stoinis backed away before muscling it.
19.2 Liam Dawson to Marcus Stoinis, backs away again, and Dawson darts in a full one at his body. Dug out back to the bowler.
Clubbed! That's a good pair of biceps he has got!
19.1 Liam Dawson to Marcus Stoinis, PUMMELLED! SIX! Good length ball delivered at the off peg from around the wicket. Stoinis backed away and whacked it over the sight screen for a 91m maximum.
Liam Dawson will bowl his final set of five balls.
Right then, only 5 deliveries left in the match. The Spirit have very much done their bit already.
19.0
18.5 Richard Gleeson to Akeal Hosein, full one at the pads. Deft glance to deep square leg gets a run.
Akeal Hosein batting at 9th position
Adam Hose has been dismissed for 9 runs off 5 balls
Much better length to bowl! And with pace taken off, it gets even better!
18.4 Richard Gleeson to Adam Hose, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! False execution of a premeditated shot from Hose. He went down on a knee looking to swish it towards fine leg. Gleeson stuck to a hard length and the batter ended up gloving it to the keeper.
18.3 Richard Gleeson to Marcus Stoinis, dials up the pace, only slightly — 78mph. Hurls it full, at the fourth peg. Punched to mid-off for one.
18.2 Richard Gleeson to Marcus Stoinis, SLASHED FOR SIX! Pace-off ball on a length, 71mph, with a generous amount of width on offer. Stoinis sent it sailing over backward point.
