MS won by 4 runs.

Words would not do justice to the exuberance and energy that it instilled in us throughout the encounter. One of the finest performances in the BBL. Sydney Thunder won the bat flip and decided to bowl and at the end, they were left with one too many to score off. Alex Hales and Sam Whiteman opened together but did not last long as both got out to an identical score of 10 reeling Sydney Thunder at 29/2. The chase revolved around the partnership of Matthew Gilkes and Sam Billings who stitched 91 runs for the 3 wicket. Billings was going well and was on course to take Sydney Thunder over the line as he fell against the run of play. Gilkes brought up his half-century but fell in the 18th over which diminished the chances of Thunder in the game.

Qais Ahmed, Brody Couch and Nathan Coulter-Nile were right on the money with some of the finest bowling on display in this edition of the BBL but it was the master leg-spinner Adam Zampa who sealed the deal for Melbourne Stars by defending 11 runs in the final over.

Melbourne Stars beat Syndey Thunder by 4 runs

Nick Larkin:
(on the win) Racked! Absolutely racked! Was so nerve-racking throughout the game and it was a really awesome performance to come out victorious.  (On Zampa's last over) No, he took the ball out of Maxy's (Maxwell) hand and said that he will take it and we're so happy to have him. (On his 50) Trying my best to hang them around for my first 20 balls but I hung in there luckily and middled some of them, so it felt really good out there in the middle.  Just to get out there as a team and also to attain as individuals and to hold our nerves with our backs against the wall for the first 10 overs and even at the end with the ball was massive.
The MCG has gone berserk!

Such an absolute cracker in the Men's BBL
19.6 Adam Zampa to Ben Cutting, no run, ZAMPA PREVAILS! Good length ball wide of off-stump, Cuttings makes room to hammer the ball through the off side but fails to connect, the keeper behind the stumps is cool to collect the ball and not make a mess this time around.
Sydney Thunder need 5 runs in 1 remaining ball
19.5 Adam Zampa Alex Ross, DROPPED! OH MY GOD! Good length ball on middle and leg, Ross steps down and hammers the ball down to Maxwell at long-on who makes a mess of the chance, Ross takes a single.
Do we have a super over on the cards?
Sydney Thunder need 6 runs in 2 remaining balls
19.4 Adam Zampa to Ben Cutting, 1 run, slow back of the length ball on middle and leg, Cuttings hits the ball to mid-wicket and hurries for a single. He wants the second but Ross denies the offer.
This is making us all nervous and excited both!
Zampa has been excellent for Australia in the shortest format and is now getting the job done for his team in the BBL
19.3 Adam Zampa to Alex Ross, 1 run, fullish ball on off-stump, Ross makes room and pumps the ball to the man at long-off for a single.
MISFIELDDD!! How much will it cost the Stars?
19.2 Adam Zampa to Alex Ross, 2 runs, slow fullish ball on off-stump, Ross comes down and hammers the ball to square-leg, another misfield and Ross and Cuttings get two runs. PRESSURE!
19.1 Adam Zampa to Ben Cutting, 1 run, back of the length ball on off-stump, Cutting cuts the ball to cover, a misfield and Cuttings gets a single.
