What an innings, what a remarkably successful effort from Devdutt Padikkal! He struggled to get bat on ball against spin bowling on countless occasions today, but to anchor a run-chase the way that he did, on a wicket that seemed unfriendly for stroke-play throughout - Padikkal has truly lived up to his reputation today! Let's not forget Manoj Bhandage's contribution today, you won't find too many instances of a batter playing second-fiddle to such perfection, finding the boundaries on demand as well the way Bhandage did today!

It was pace that helped Mysuru make early inroads in their quest to defend a target of 158, with Jeswanth Acharya finding the palms of Naga Bharath at point four balls in. Pavan Deshpande's four-over spell turned out to be of utmost utility to the Warriors, as he proceeded to claim the very dangerous Rohan Patil and then Krishnan Shrijith. Having bowled his four overs successively, Deshpande went for a mere 16 in his quota, and the pressure was starting to mount on Gulbarga.

The Mystics weren't helped by the fact that their skipper fell to an in-seamer from Monish Reddy 10 balls in. But Pandey's dismissal paved the way for Manoj Bhandage to walk in, and Padikkal seemed to find a partner on whom he could have faith. Bhandage quietly went about nurdling the ball into the outfield as Padikkal looked to take charge, taking on the pace of Reddy in between. The 17th over of the innings from Vidyadhar Patil saw the Gulbarga Mystics take the front seat in the game for good - 20 came off it, Bhandage was given a reprieve thanks to some abominable communication between the fielders under a high ball.

From thereon, the required rate started to fluctuated around 6 an over. It became 6 going into the penultimate over, and was slashed in half by the time the last over began. Padikkal had the opportunity to seal the deal with a six and get his hundred while at it, but the two batsmen chose to be a lot more modest and professional in their approach, doing the job in singles. Gulbarga Mystics will return to the Chinnaswamy tomorrow to take on the Bengaluru Blasters in the summit clash tomorrow.

Manish Pandey, Gulbarga Mystics captain: Thought we could have had a better wicket, but that's fine. Getting them down to 157, I thought that was a fairly decent score. The way we have been batting throughout the tournament has been brilliant, so I thought we had to bank on our batsmen, and it was great to be on the winning side. DDP was batting well, when the left-arm spinner was bowling, I told him he's all yours today, just take him on and that's what we did. Really happy to have him back, the way he finished the game for us today was brilliant. He (Padikkal) has always been an integral part of the team because he's an experienced batsman, we were a couple of batsmen short a couple of games before, really happy he played well for us. (On Kushaal Wadhwani) been very good under pressure, because he bowls those kind of lengths where it gets difficult for the batsman, just thought we'll back him at the end of the tournament and he started to do well for us.

Devdutt Padikkal is the Player of the Match for his stunning 64-ball unbeaten 96. This is what he has to say: I really wanted to contribute today because it was really disappointing not to be part of the team last game. The way the boys played the last game was really heartening to see and I wanted to contribute today. I'm also human and I also felt I wasn't doing that well for the side. I wanted to perform for the side today and glad to be in the final. I'm fine and hopefully I can turn up tomorrow. I was really unsure to be honest if I should keep going or take it deeper. He (Bhandage) came in and went for his shots and that allowed me to go deeper.

A bit of an anti-climatic end, but neither Padikkal or Gulbarga Mystics will be deterred by that, they are returning to play the final of the 2022 Maharaja T20 trophy against the Bengaluru Blasters tomorrow!

19.4 Shreyas Gopal to Devdutt Padikkal, PLAYS IT WISE! What an innings from Devdutt Padikkal! He was unwell heading into this game but he sure wasn't out. And he's stepped up on the big occasion to lead his side to a fine victory. Short outside off and he arches back to steer a square cut to deep point as he saunters across to ensure that the Gulbarga Mystics qualify for the summit clash with a 6-wicket win!
