Thanks a lot for joining us here in Sportskeeda for this exciting game of cricket from Auckland! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, ciao and take care!
Pat Cummins is the Player of the Match. Here is what he has to say: I will take the way I batted. Always enjoy batting tin this format, some came off nicely and some off the edge. I love it, going hard in the field. Mitch Marsh has done a fantastic job as a captain. The wicket had a little bit of extra bounce in it and everyone had a great night. I have played a few times and not every time we have had the same result
Australia beat New Zealand by 72 runs!
Travis Head 45 (22) | Lockie Ferguson 4-12 Glenn Phillips 42 (35) | Adam Zampa 4-34
This turned out to be a rather easy victory for Australia given that the Kiwi batters just did not get going in this innings. This latter fact insulted and hurt the Eden Park faithful, but there was hardly anything that went right for the home team.
Although Australia did not have the best of times with the bat in hand in the latter half of their innings, the Kiwis struggled even more so, and that too from the first over itself. Full credit has to be given to the Aussie bowlers for hitting the right areas and troubling the Kiwi batters.
With this win, Australia have won the series 2-0 with one game yet to go. However, the Kiwis will be more disappointed with the fact that they did not show up today at all. Although their bowling was extremely good in patches, their batting was rather poor.
With wicketkeeper-opener Devon Conway going off the field in the opening stages of the game owing to a finger injury, the Kiwis were dealt a huge blow. Conway was seen padded up to walk out to bat as the last man, but somehow that did not happen.
Ellis bags the wicket of Ferguson by bowling him! It does not seem like Conway is going to walk out to bat. If that is the case, Australia have won this game.

16.6 Nathan Ellis to Lockie Ferguson, BOWLED HIM! AUSTRALIA WIN! Length delivery on the line of the off stump, Ferguson looks to go big but misses and his leg stump has been pegged back. Devon Conway will not walk out to bat and that is that for this game, as Australia win the match by 72 runs and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in this three-match T20I series
Lockie Ferguson b Nathan Ellis 4 (7b 0x4 0x6)
16.5 Nathan Ellis to Ben Sears, full length delivery on the line of the off stump. Sears knocks it down the ground for a single
16.4 Nathan Ellis to Ben Sears, length delivery outside the off stump. Sears knocks that one towards covers for a dot ball
16.3 Nathan Ellis to Ben Sears, length delivery on the line of the middle and leg stump. Sears gets a bit of pad on that one and goes back to the bowler. An appeal from Australia but the umpire thinks it is missing leg
16.2 Nathan Ellis to Ben Sears, length delivery outside the off stump. Sears taps that one towards point for a dot ball
Nathan Ellis [2-0-15-0] is back into the attack.
16.1 Nathan Ellis to Ben Sears, length delivery on the line of the off stump. Sears is cramped for room and knocks it back to the bowler
Devon Conway is seen padded up in the dugout. He is expected to walk out to bat at the fall of a wicket. It seems to be an unnecessary risk that the Blackcaps are taking.
