India hunt down 204 with an over to spare!
At the half-way mark, New Zealand seemed to have themselves a defendable total. However, Rahul, Shreyas and Virat had other ideas as the trio unfurled a display of magnificent batting to hunt down the total and do it with an over to spare. Shreyas, in particular, was at his belligerent best as he conjured a superlative innings of 58* off 29 balls and hammer the final nail into the Kiwi coffin.

New Zealand, meanwhile, would be left ruing their opportunities. To put things into perspective, they could've sent back Kohli and Rahul early in their essays had they not been so profligate. Apart from that though, their bowling lacked the usual bite and that would be an aspect they would want to correct, especially as the side reconvene at Eden Park in a couple of days' time.

Earlier in the evening, India kept plugging away at the Black Caps' batting line up, although Taylor and Williamson ensured that that didn't morph into a significant hiccup. Yet, the soft dismissals of Munro and de Grandhomme would've left them with a furrowed brow or two, considering the duo's propensity to indulge in pyrotechnics. As for India, their bowling performance blew hot and cold, with Shardul in particular, looking devoid of ideas. Thus, despite the victory, India might have a few flaws to iron out before Sunday.
Shreyas finishes it off in style!
Shreyas shuffles across his stumps and then absolutely mousses a slower length delivery over the longest boundary at Eden Park. And, he hits it into the stands. A scintillating end to an utterly sumptuous innings! We might well have seen him coming off age today! Awesome! Just awesome!
Over 19 | Summary: 6 4 1 1 . 6 Bowler: T Southee IND: 204/4(RR 10.74)
18.6 SIX! Tim Southee to Shreyas Iyer. Off cutter length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs.

18.2 FOUR! Tim Southee to Shreyas Iyer. Slower length ball, outside off stump moves in front flick, well timed in the air under control past deep backward square leg for 4 runs. Even better from Iyer. Clipping the change of pace around the corner and making it look so easy.
Shreyas gets to fifty!
Now, Shreyas goes the other way and walks across to off-stump. He then picks up a full delivery outside the off-stump and places it immaculately past the fielder at deep backward square leg for four. What a stunning innings this has been!
Another early boundary! This time, it's a maximum!
Southee bangs it into the wicket but it doesn't pose a problem for Shreyas. He backs away and then pumps the ball over mid-off for six. Brilliant shot.
18.1 SIX! Tim Southee to Shreyas Iyer. Back of a length, off stump backing away driving, well timed in the air under control over long off for 6 runs.
India again do the heavy lifting early in the over and they now have a very achievable target of 18 runs from 2 overs. The visitors would be kicking themselves if they don't finish the job from here.

Two boundaries in succession for Shreyas!
Shreyas walks across his stumps, reads a full length delivery and nonchalantly clips it past long on for another boundary. This has been some innings by the Delhi Capitals skipper so far.
17.2 FOUR! Hamish Bennett to Shreyas Iyer. Half volley, to leg moves in front flick, well timed in the air under control past long on for 4 runs. Bowling into Iyer's strong zone and he is going to pick these off all day.
Shreyas gets the early boundary, yet again!
Bennett misses his mark with the yorker and he gets flicked through the leg-side for four by Shreyas.
17.1 FOUR! Hamish Bennett to Shreyas Iyer. Full toss, middle stump moves in front flick, well timed past deep backward square leg for 4 runs.
India kept pace with the required run rate as they collected 10 runs off the over. The early boundary helped and that put pressure on the bowlers. A couple of sixes more and India could be home here.

Shreyas with another handsome hit!
Shreyas gets inside the line of a short delivery aimed at his body and then just helps the ball over the fine-leg fence adeptly. He is proving his worth today. And, he now needs to see the team across the finish line. Top batting.
