So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Pratyush Rohra. Do stay tuned to Sportskeeda for a lot more matches tomorrow with the IPL, the second ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand all lined up. Until next time, it is a warm good-bye
Marcus Stoinis: (About his finger injury)It is alright. Better but it is what it is. It was nice, we were joking about the difference between this and how it is at Lucknow. (Whether he was targeting a total) No, I wasn't and I don't think Ayush was too. He got off to a flier, very talented player. We just kept building on the start. That's just the circumstances batting more balls. Part of my career, my journey has been batting at various positions. Look I think, I was swinging it during the nets, so the bowling coach got excited about it.
Marcus Stoinis has been named as the 'Player of the Match'
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants captain): (About LSG's strong record batting first) Not really, it is so against the current T20 trend. There is something we have done right but I am not able to put a finger on it. Very important and every game from now on is important. We came back fresher and have always been clear about how we want to play. Back home, the pitches have been challenging but when you come to venues like this, you get excited as a batter. 260 says how well the team played. Cricket is such a game where the pitch can be different and you could get surprised. Kyle put pressure on their bowlers and it set the tone for us. We do pre-plan a bit, spend a lot of time thinking about the batting order. Ayush has been very good, Krunal has also been batting well. The think-tank does most of the work and I spend a little bit of time understanding their thought-process and cross-check whether it is what I want as a captain.
Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants): Very happy with the win. Felt like it was a really good wicket and the bowlers did well. We knew there was a bigger side and the bowlers used that well. (Not taking a review) I haven't been successful taking reviews lately, so there was a bit of pressure. We'll let that one pass. (Wicketkeeping) I feel like the less I practice, the better I keep. It's all about just keeping it as simple as possible. (Batting) Happy to contribute to the team's performance. Will take 40 runs any day of the week.
Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings captain): We gave too many runs away and we paid the price for it. (His own dismissal) I felt that the ball didn't come on that quickly, but we were chasing a big score, so I had to keep the intent going. (Toss) I feel like the strategy which we used to play an extra fast bowler worked badly. We missed a spinner today. A good learning for me. (Shahrukh batting at 8) No particular reason. Livi and Sam were there, so we kept the same order. (Impact sub rule) It's been good. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. That's how it is.
MATCH OVER!
Lucknow Super Giants won by 56 runs!
Lucknow Super Giants 257-5 (20) Punjab Kings 201-10 (19.5)
Atharva Taide 66 (36) | Sikandar Raza 36 (22)
Yash Thakur 3.5-0-37-4 | Naveen-ul-Haq 4-0-30-3
A convincing 56-run win for LSG at Punjab Kings' home. They had effectively sealed by posting the second highest-ever total in the IPL history. Punjab didn't themselves with a poor start to the chase as Marcus Stoinis got rid of Shikhar Dhawan in the very first over. Prabhsimran Singh also struggled for a while before holing out to deep backward square off Naveen-ul-Haq's bowling.
Sikandar Raza was promoted to No.4 but the move didn't quite work as the Zimbabwean batter took some to get going. The asking rate kept shooting up even as Atharva Taide went berserk at the other end. Raza eventually got going after the Powerplay but his innings was cut short by a clever slower delivery from Yash Thakur. Taide looked to keep up his positive intent but he was sent back by Ravi Bishnoi. Bishnoi also trapped Liam Livingstone in front during the 16th over after the Englishman hit a few lusty blows in the previous overs.
In the end, the duo of Yash Thakur and Naveen-ul-Haq used their variations cleverly to restrict the lower-order and tail so that the deficit was reduced too much.
19.5 Yash Thakur to Shahrukh Khan, GAME, SET, MATCH! Low full toss on the middle stump line, Shahrukh tried to launch it into orbit but only got more height than distance. His heave came off the toe-end, finding Bishnoi at deep mid-wicket to bring an end to proceedings. Amongst all that, Thakur ends with figures of 4/37. LSG win by 56 runs and leapfrog to second place!
Shahrukh Khan c Ravi Bishnoi b Yash Thakur 6 (9b) (0*4 0*6)
19.4 Yash Thakur to Shahrukh Khan, dig in short around the front shoulder. Shahrukh missed out on his pull, no run
19.3 Yash Thakur to Shahrukh Khan, low full toss on the leg-stump line. Shahrukh works it out to deep backward square leg and takes the single before returning for two after a needless overthrow. Brings up 200 for PBKS!
19.2 Yash Thakur to Shahrukh Khan, slower bouncer down the leg side. Shahrukh pulls it to fine leg and denies the single. Still waiting to get to 200...
19.1 Yash Thakur to Shahrukh Khan, into the block hole on the middle stump line. Shahrukh bunts it back to the bowler, who does well to field off his own bowling, no run
End of a fantastic spell from Naveen-ul-Haq. He finishes with figures of 4-0-30-3

18.6 Naveen-ul-Haq to Arshdeep Singh, goes full and straight on this occasion. Arshdeep whips it towards wide long-on and picks up a couple
18.5 Naveen-ul-Haq to Arshdeep Singh, OH! Another slower one at the back of a length this time. Arshdeep was early into his shot and was cut in half. That didn't miss the top of off-stump by much
Arshdeep Singh, LHB, is into the middle
Accurate and no pace from Naveen-ul-Haq, End result, third scalp as Kagiso Rabada has to depart for a golden duck!
18.4 Naveen-ul-Haq to Kagiso Rabada, TIMBER! NAVEEN HAS HIS THIRD!Slower one pitched up to angle it into the left-hander. Rabada backed away and played down the wrong line, losing his middle pole in the process. LSG one wicket away now. Will PBKS get past 200?

18.3 Naveen-ul-Haq to Shahrukh Khan, searching for the yorker outside the off-stump. Drilled down to long-off to pick up a run
