CSK (150-2) beat RCB (145-6) by eight wickets in the first match of the day!

Chennai Super Kings have kept themselves alive in the IPL 2020 season with a win over high-flying Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

With a modest target of 146 to chase down, CSK got off to a strong start backed by the openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis who were scoring briskly in the powerplay overs and were 40-0 at the end of 4 overs. Gaikwad was in fine form smacking the RCB bowlers all across the park. Faf du Plessis skied one off Chris Morris as Siraj got the catch dismissing the South African batsman and Ambati Rayudu joined the chase for CSK.

Rayudu and Gaikwad made life difficult for RCB after the powerplay as they continued to chip away at the total with singles around the park and big shots on the loose ones from the RCB bowlers. The two put up a 67-run partnership to put Chennai in a comfortable position in the chase. Chahal got the wicket of Rayudu who had to depart when he tried to sweep but missed the length and had his woodwork rattled.

Chennai skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni joined the middle and supported the young Gaikwad well with handy boundaries as the opener got to his maiden IPL 50 to set up the win for the Chennai Super Kings. They were able to chase the target down as Gaikwad scored a boundary and six with 6 needed to win against Chris Morris to bring up the win in style for CSK!

With that win, CSK are now on the seventh spot on the IPL 2020 standings level on points with SRH and RR, the latter in action today against table toppers Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi.

That is all from the action from the first match of the day, as this is Gaurav Kadam, and my colleague Maanas Upadhyay signing off for Sportskeeda. Stay tuned for all the action from the sporting world right here. Stay safe!
Chris Morris joins the RCB attack and Gaikwad decides to take things in his hands smacking him off the pads for a boundary towards the mid-wicket region. A dot ball followed but he finished it in style pulling Morris over fine leg for a SIX to win it for his team!

CSK have beaten RCB by 8 wickets here!
