Match Abandoned Due To Rain
Unfortunately due to the persistent rain, we won't be having any presentation ceremony. That is all we had for the day. This is me, Arya Sekhar Chakraborty signing off in behalf of my fellow commentator and good friend Pradeep. Goodnight!!! Cheers!!!!
This brings us to the end of a frustrating day for the fans and the supporters as we witness yet another washout in an international game. This time the 2nd ODI between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan gets affected by rain and hopefully, the weather will clear out by the next game.

It was Afghanistan who batted first and posted 228 on the board, They were bowled out inside the 50th over and gave away their wickets quite cheaply, especially in the middle overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the top scorer for Afghanistan with a 73 ball 68 and was instrumental in Afghanistan getting to a score of some substance.

Rahmat Shah also played a sensible knock, scoring 58 off 78 deliveries. He looked solid in the middle while Mohammad Nabi blazed his way to a 34 ball 41 which allowed Afghanistan to get some momentum lower down. Kasun Rajitha bowled with heart and finished with impressive figures of 3/31. Lahiru Kumar and Maheesh Theekshana also chipped in with a couple each.

The Sri Lanka innings started with Fazalhaq Farooqi cannoning one after the other on the stumps with both Nissanka and Kusal Mendis in relative discomfort. However, just after 2.4 overs, the skies opened up and we couldn't restart again. The weather forecast was a wet stretch during the night and it lived up to the forecast. So Afghanistan still has a 1-0 advantage in the three-match series with a match to go.
09:00 PM IST- So the inevitable has happened. Match has been called off.
8:56 PM IST- So this shouid be it, We don't have an official confirmation yet but it will be safe to presume that this match is done.
Alright, it's been that kind of a day so far, the rain has other ideas and is not helping at all at the moment.
Out of nowhere we have good news, the covers are coming off and hopefully the resumption is very soon!
Waiting game and the frustration continues!!!
The rain has only gotten heavier is what we're hearing from the ground, if the rain subsides in the next 45 mins or so, only then we're going to have a game of 20 overs at least.
07:45 PM IST: There has been no update from the ground yet, that means it's still raining and when the situation improves we will have more updates, stay tuned!
07:15 PM IST- This is not very good news. Here comes the cover as the rain returns. Mind you, the weather forecast isn't good for the rest of the match. However the good thing is we haven't lost any overs yet.
2.4 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Kusal Mendis, good length and angling it across the right-hander on the sixth stump, Mendis shoulders arms to it. The covers are coming on immediately after that delivery, the rain has gotten heavier!
2.3 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Kusal Mendis, OH! This is good stuff from Farooqi, once again right on the money, Nissanka right behind the line to watchfully defend it.
2.2 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Pathum Nissanka, back of a length again, nips back into Nissanka who gets forward to defend but gets the inside edge, down to fine-leg for one.
2.1 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Pathum Nissanka, OH! Back of a length delivery, shapes back in sharply, Nissanka presses to defend but might've got the inside edge that has saved him there.
2.1 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Pathum Nissanka, FIVE WIDES! Length delivery, strays down the leg-side, Nissanka looks to flick it but misses, just evades the diving keeper, down to fine-leg for a boundary and called a wide.
