It's true, Nicky P! Your team is in the final after all. It sure feels surreal given that it looked improbable at one stage but they surely have peaked at the right time and are looking a dangerous outfit now. For the Texas Super Kings, it's a case of what could have been. Easily their best season yet in the history of the MLC but alas, they fall short of making the final yet again with a third consecutive defeat in the Challenger in as many years. They can be pleased with their efforts this season though and it's surely something they can build upon for next year.

Nicholas Pooran (MI New York captain): I'm really really happy. Not sure how we got to the final, eh? (Pre-game conversations) Stay calm, bring the energy and just be there. Have the belief. The coaching staff has done a fantastic job and the senior players too - not only on the field but off the field as well and when the big moments came, they stepped up. Throughout the tournament our bowling has been going around the park but in the last couple of games we've stuck to our plans and have gotten better and better. I thought Akeal was playing beautifully but it was great to see the bowlers coming together. 166 wasn't going to be easy against the bowlers in their team - Akeal, Noor and Milne. We knew the senior players had to put their hands up and they did. Pollard has played the most T20 games - to bowl four overs and then come out and do it with the bat, I think he has a lot more left. He has shared his experience with everyone. Couple of weeks ago, it was the last leg in Miami, the guys were wondering if we had a chance and we said yes. We needed to take some wickets in the powerplay as well. The guys are really hungry and wanted to do well. Monank continues to go from strength to strength and it's really nice to see that the Major League Cricket is giving guys an opportunity. We've been playing knockout cricket since the last week in Miami and we're back here in Dallas. It's been a great journey and we're embracing it.

Kieron Pollard is the Player of the Match for his stunning unbeaten 47 off 22 balls. Here's what he has to say: I think intent (was the key). I was focused on my intent from the first ball. I knew they'd keep Noor for me as a matchup. I decided I wouldn't muck around today. I knew if we get to the end, it was a matter of keeping wickets in hand. It's on the edge because you can get out. It's about backing yourself and understanding what is needed and I've played against Noor a couple of times now and in the last game as well. Once it was in my area, I went for it. The conversations were simple. I thought it was a very good wicket - much better than the game against San Francisco. We found ourselves in a spot of bother but it was a matter of understanding what was needed. Adam bowled well - he was up at 90 miles an hour. But we knew if we played him out it was about a few boundaries. We've gotten into a situation firstly where we shouldn't be here. But we are here so we should come out and play. You win, you lose and you're going to come back again. I know the team is looking up to me and these are the games you want to stand up.

Faf du Plessis (Texas Super Kings captain): Very disappoiinted. I thought we've been excellent right through the campaign, finished second of the lot, some really good consistent cricket. Even tonight, scrapping hard to get to that total. The two guys in the middle batted really well but obviously very disappointed. It was a lot slower, a bit more grip. Would have taken that score. Probably the difference was dropping Pollard twice - two extremely tough chances with the wind blowing but you know if you get him you're in. We were thinking about him (Hosein) the whole time. He bowled really well upfront and we thought of holding him back. But Pollard being really good against left-arm spin, it was a 50-50 call. He's been really excellent for us. But it's a really tight, short straight so it becomes difficult to control when he hits straight. (Reflecting on the washout) 100 per cent. You work really hard to get into the top two and you're hoping for that chance to get a crack at it to get straight into the final but it wasn't the case. We obviously looked to come here tonight and played against a team that's been average throughout the season but they've come up with some very good performances in recent times. You look at the overseas players, you always expect them to perform. But the local players are moving places. From year 2 to year 3 I think we've become a better squad, even the guys on the bench.

One win from their first seven matches. Their campaign looked all but done especially with the Seattle Orcas in the midst of a mid-season revival. But MI New York have somehow managed to go through to the summit clash. The stars have aligned but they've played some excellent cricket themselves and held their nerve in crunch moments - something that the Texas Super Kings cannot claim to tonight.

The pitch wasn't easy to bat on but it did seem to ease out in the second half even as Akeal Hosein got the ball to turn. Quinton de Kock perished early but Monank Patel received a lifeline as Hosein put down a sitter. Monank continued to live a charmed life even as Michael Bracewell, sent ahead of Nicholas Pooran, couldn't leave an impact although Pooran took his time despite a scratchy start. It was clear that he was keen to bat deep into the innings and go big in the slog overs but the asking rate crept up steadily with the Super Kings keeping things tight.

Where TSK lacked, however, was in converting their chances on the field. A couple of dropped chances did not help especially with Kieron Pollard coming out meaning business and launching the ball over the fence even as he didn't really time it all that well at times. Zia-ul-Haq will rue his misjudgment of a steepler over his head as Pollard got away again and while MINY needed 50 off the last four, they ransacked 23 off the 17th sent down by Zia to shut the game. Thereafter, the result was a mere formality as Pollard and Pooran got the job done with an over to spare with the skipper sealing the deal with a six to raise his half-century too.

There was a contentious wide call in the 19th over that left the Super Kings miffed. So much so that Faf du Plessis made his displeasure known to the umpire even after the match ended. But they might want to look back at certain calls too - Hosein, the pick of the lot, bowled just three overs while Adam Milne wasn't able to complete his quota of overs either. Such a good campaign for the Super Kings but alas, despite a top two finish, they will not contest the final. Stick around for the presentation...

A monstrous hit and it sends MI New York into the final - who would have imagined saying this say ten days ago. They looked down and out for all money but the former champions are through at the expense of their arch rivals. Faf du Plessis continues to have an animated chat with the umpire over that wide call - there have been some contentious decisions today but the Super Kings have been outplayed by the better team on the night! MI New York will return to this venue to play Washington Freedom in the final on Sunday!
