Pitch Report
69 and 68 meters square on either side. When you're hitting into the wind, you're not necessarily clearing it. You need to get to 200 minimum on this pitch. It doesn't guarantee you a win though. 220-225 is your ballpark.

That will be all from this contest but there's loads more cricketing action lined up. You can start with the second Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Colombo commencing in about half an hour's time while the West Indies are set to face Australia in a Test themselves later on. Do catch our coverage of it all right here on Sportskeeda. For the moment, this is your host Sooryanarayanan Sesha taking your leave. Thank you so much for tuning in. Take care - buh-bye for now!
A pleased Texas Super Kings skipper but what might delight him even more is if he can find a way to win a toss. Do not put it past him to bring someone else out to flip the coin in the next game - it's something he has done before alright! But having pocketed two points and boosted their net run-rate, TSK will sleep happily tonight. Not so much for the Knight Riders, who continue to struggle for consistency and have plenty of work to do in the second half of the season.
Faf du Plessis (Texas Super Kings captain): You got some tips? (on the toss) I called a future South African Test captain (Temba Bavuma) to come out for the toss. Look out for the next Texas captain coming for the toss (laughs). I felt this wicket wasn't the same as the first couple of games we played. It was a little bit slower, stayed lower. We thought 180 was a good score but that's the benefit of having the power-hitters towards the back end. Well done to the boys to get us to an above par score. The game has moved quickly. The previous game, we batted really well getting 220 and you feel like you squeezed every run out there. When I say not so good, I mean compared to the wickets we've played on out here. One side is pretty small. The pleasing thing for us is the performance of the local guys - they've come to the party. That's something we lacked last year. Even today, Milind didn't play but in the previous game he got runs. You want to put your best bowling XI here on this pitch. Akeal Hosein here was magic on this pitch. We started off the tournament really well and even in the previous game I thought we were really good. One or two dropped catches hurt us. We played well but it only counts when you win so really pleased with the win today.
Donovan Ferreira is the Player of the Match for an outstanding 21-ball 43 and a wicket. Here's what he has to say: The wicket obviously didn't look as good as the previous day. Looked a bit slower so we knew we had to bat deep and try to maximize the last five overs. So we tried to play good cricket shots, keep it along the wicket and then with the wind we could take it on. It was a bit slower. But it felt like everything clicked for me today. I had the pace of the wicket but I gave myself ten balls. Fortunately for me I hit a couple of boundaries early. That one off Shadley was nice. Everything was in sync and it hit the bat well. It went the furthest. It was the perfect length, the perfect swing and it hit the middle of the bat.
Jason Holder (Los Angeles Knight Riders captain): Thought the wicket played differently to how it has all season. We just lost early wickets in the powerplay. We just never got going or got momentum. We had too much to get in the end. We've just got to be a little bit smart. A few things haven't gone our way as well. The guys need to get something at the top, get some kind of a partnership and set things up for the guys in the middle. Definitely bowled poorly in the back end as well. We just need to execute better. The plans are there, we just need to execute. Our energy this afternoon wasn't great. Small things we need to control and we definitely need to execute with the bat and ball. We've not had enough consistency with our batting or our bowling and that's one thing we need to improve.
10:47 PM local time (9:17 AM IST): Texas Super Kings beat Los Angeles Knight Riders by 52 runs!
Shubham Ranjane 70 (45) | Akeal Hosein 2/10 (3) Unmukt Chand 30 (30) | Andre Russell 3/37 (4)
As comprehensive a performance as it can get as the Texas Super Kings get on the board at home at last in MLC 2025. A return to winning ways after a couple of defeats and it's been a thoroughly professional display that the hosts have put up, particularly with the ball in hand. Their batters set it up with a big score of 196 which, on a deck that wasn't the easiest to bat on, was certainly above par.
It was Akeal Hosein, in his first match of the season, who orchesterated the Los Angeles Knight Riders' downfall with a double-strike in the third over as he found himself on a hat-trick. It forced the in-form Unmukt Chand to take his time as he looked to stabilize in the innings in the company of Saif Badar, a fellow hero from the last game. But neither got going and looked in any kind of fluent nick, sending the asking rate up, up and, well, further up. The Super Kings were relentlessly tight with their radar while their fielders were switched on from ball one, putting in multiple saves and holding onto every catching opportunity that came their way.
For Noor Ahmad of course, the fielders didn't matter as he rattled the poles twice. By the time either of Sherfane Rutherford or Andre Russell came out to bat though, the match looked lost even by their lofty standards. There wasn't much they could do and while Rovman Powell hit a couple of sixes, the fact that those hits came as late as the 15th over summed up a torrid chase where the Knight Riders never came close to threatening the Super Kings.
While the spinners were the cornerstones of this win with the ball, TSK would be pleased with how Zia-ul-Haq stepped up with a tidy spell while Marcus Stoinis managed to get in a nice yorker session towards the end. Of course, if not for Shubham Ranjane's 70 and Donovan Ferreira's rapid 43 after the Super Kings were reduced to 33/3 in the powerplay, it could have been a whole different story. Stick around to hear from the captains...

19.6 Marcus Stoinis to Jason Holder, PUMPED FOR FOUR! But none of it matters as the Texas Super Kings romp home by 52 runs! A resounding win as they complete the double over the Knight Riders by a massive margin again. Faf du Plessis and his men will be very pleased and while it's not extremely loud at the Grand Prairie Stadium, you can hear the whistles from their fans. Coming to the delivery - it was very full at the stumps with Stoinis not getting the yorker right. Holder pumped it over his head for a boundary on the bounce but it's all just a bonus against his tally with his side sinking to a fourth defeat now in five outings!
Last ball...
19.5 Marcus Stoinis to Jason Holder, very full and following the batter. Holder clears his front leg looking to squeeze it out before it tunnels between his feet to the keeper
19.4 Marcus Stoinis to Jason Holder, pace off on a length outside the off stump. Holder makes room and thumps it down the ground before long on covers up to his left. Two runs taken!
19.3 Marcus Stoinis to Jason Holder, full and tailing in. Holder clips it square on the leg-side and into the deep before returning for the second
19.2 Marcus Stoinis to Shadley van Schalkwyk, very full outside leg stump. Van Schalkwyk hops aside and squeezes it out to long off's left
19.1 Marcus Stoinis to Jason Holder, full and tailing in close to the off stump. Holder drags it leg-side to deep mid-wicket's right for one
Final over coming up. Stoinis it is to bowl. Expect him to practice the yorker again here.

18.6 Nandre Burger to Jason Holder, nearly into the block hole on middle and leg stump. Holder clips it away to deep square leg to retain strike
18.5 Nandre Burger to Jason Holder, pace off as he goes full and away from the batter. Keeps low to beat Holder's almighty swing across the line
18.4 Nandre Burger to Jason Holder, FOUR MORE! Bonus runs these for the LAKR skipper! Full and on leg stump as he walks across again. He picks it up and over backward square leg and picks his spot for a boundary
18.3 Nandre Burger to Jason Holder, GETS HOLD OF THIS ONE THOUGH! Length ball well outside the off stump. Holder walks across his stumps and swings powerfully over mid-wicket. The boundary rider can only watch it sail over
