Pitch Report
It has been a very good drop in surface. Hard length into the surface has seen the bowlers get some success. The new ball gets some extra bounce here, which could test the batters.

That's all from this game as I, Lavil, alongside my colleague, Bidipto Datta, take your leave. Join us tomorrow for the last game at this venue as MI New York take on Seattle Orcas, in what happens to be a rematch of the 2023 MLC final. Till then, keep following Sportskeeda and enjoy your day ahead. SEE YA!!
Glenn Maxwell (captain and Player of the Match, Washington Freedom): I gave myself a chance, and being the captain, it was my responsibility to take my team to a good total. I gave myself 15-20 balls at the start and had a total of 150-160 in my mind, but was able to strike the ball nicely in the end. An innings like this will take us from start to end to bring the confidence back. It is nice that we had success last year, and it was a shame I was unavailable for Punjab in India. I think using good lengths and a change of pace has worked really well. Saurabh Netravalkar did a fine job, and Mark Adair on debut also did well. You have got to be adaptable, the group has taken the problems on their chin and carried on. Steve Smith's injury also seems to have ruled him out here
Jason Holder (Los Angeles Knight Riders captain): "We held them well deep into the innings. But we let it slip after that. But you also have to credit them. We wanted to play our shots, but lost too many wickets in the power play. That was the key. It did bounce more when we batted, but starting well would have worked well I feel. It's a game of momentum, we need to win one to turn things around."
9:15 pm local time, 9:45 am IST: Washington Freedom beat Los Angeles Knight Riders by 113 runs
LAKR: 95 all out (16.3 overs)
Saif Badar: 32(31b) | Jason Holder: 23(16b) Jack Edwards: 3/15 (3 overs) | Mitchell Owen: 3/18 (3 overs)
An absolute demolition job here from the defending champions. They have made an absolute mincemeat across all departments - bat, ball, and in the field alike. LAKR have been bowled out for under 100 twice in the season now and slumped to their third consecutive defeat. This also sees them occupy the last place in the points table
It was a sorry state of affairs for LAKR. They lost a wicket in the very first over, and on the first delivery of the very next over, they lost Sunil Narine, who was promoted up the order. Their powerplay was a very somber and sorry affair, where they lost three quick wickets and managed only 23 runs in the first six overs with the field restrictions in place. While the bowlers used by Washington Freedom were on top of their game in that phase, a certain Saurabh Netravalkar bowled 16 dot deliveries out of the 18 he sent down during that phase of the game.
The middle overs were an even poorer show. On the very first delivery after the powerplay, Rovman Powell was caught out in the deep. Jason Holder, on his MLC debut for LAKR, walked out to the middle and did play a fine knock, but an inside edge onto the stumps became his undoing. A procession of sorts followed then, with Mitchell Owen dismissing a well-set Saif Badar and a dangerous-looking Andre Russell in the same over.
By the 14th over, LAKR had been reduced to rubble, with the bowlers out in the middle batting for a bit. All Washington Freedom needed was a couple of deliveries and the bowlers did the job adeptly, ending the game and delivering a huge win for the defending champions.
Let's now here from the winning skipper and the Player of the Match
Corne Dry has been dismissed for 13 runs off 15 balls
16.3 Saurabh Netravalkar to Corne Dry, THAT ENDS THE MATCH! Good length angling in on off-stump. Slammed on the up to the man at wide long-on and the fielder there makes absolutely no mistake with the catch near the rope! Washington Freedom get their second win.
16.2 Saurabh Netravalkar to Corne Dry, good length around off-stump. Dry pushes at it and gets beaten as the ball holds its line.
16.1 Saurabh Netravalkar to Corne Dry, round the wicket, FOUR RUNS! Good length on off-and-middle. Dry shuffles across and laps it over short fine-leg expertly!
Saurabh Netravalkar [3-1-2-1] comes back into the attack
Tanveer Sangha batting at 11th position
Strategic timeout: Mere formalities remain in this contest now. This game could be done in the very next over or in the over after. The end is imminent for LAKR, who are staring at a huge defeat here, which could see them occupy the last place in the points table

Shadley van Schalkwyk has been dismissed for 12 runs off 13 balls
15.6 Ian Holland to Shadley van Schalkwyk, EASY CATCH! Back of a length and yet another slower one around off. A slap on the up off the back foot but in the air. Short cover gets in the way and completes a simple enough take!
15.5 Ian Holland to Corne Dry, slower ball into the pitch on middle-and-leg. Pulled around to the backward square-leg region for a single.
15.4 Ian Holland to Corne Dry, good length and outside off. The late cut by backing away does not find any connection.
15.3 Ian Holland to Shadley van Schalkwyk, back of a length and slow on off-stump. Punched down to the long-on area off the back foot for one.
15.2 Ian Holland to Shadley van Schalkwyk, good length and really slow outside off. Cue-ended off the back foot to short cover here, no run.
15.1 Ian Holland to Corne Dry, length ball on the pads here with pace taken off. Hoicked around to long-leg from deep in the crease for a single.
Glenn Maxwell could try and bring Yasir Mohammed in for an over here. The spinner has only bowled an over so far and another one, just to calm his nerves on debut, could do
