The pitch at the Harare Sports Club is warmer than what was seen during the New Zealand and South Africa series. The surface has little grass, and its dry appearance suggests it will play differently from before. Fast bowlers will need to get early wickets, as the ball is not expected to do much for long due to the warmth and minimal grass. There are visible cracks on the surface that may widen, bringing the spinners into play as the game progresses. With an average first innings score of around 220, a total of 260 would be a good score.
