Robert Lewandowski, on the other hand, has finally got his goal at Euro 2020 and made Spain pay for their indifference with an excellent goal after the break. Poland might have a fair share of problems in the competition, but their talisman has now given them a fighting chance.
The Spaniards passed and passed and passed, to virtually no effect. Their midfielders were uncharacteristically inaccurate, and apart from a moment in the first half, no one seemed to want the responsibility. Gone are the days of one-touch football, and gone are the days of David Villa and Fernando Torres. Spain need new ideas, and a new talisman.
Spain 1-1 (Alvaro Morata 25'; Robert Lewandowski 54')
The Villarreal man goes into the referee's book for a high elbow. Poland welcome the stoppage with open arms.
Pedri has been at the receiving end of some dangerous tackles today. Poland are trying to bully the 18-year-old into submission, but the midfielder has admirably stood his ground.
Spain attack from right to left.
Back in a few minutes with the second half!
Alvaro Morata has the only goal of the game so far and had a slice of luck finally going his way. The Spain striker survived an offside call and has now scored his side's first goal at Euro 2020.
Spain 1-0 Poland (Alvaro Morata 25')
That Leeds United intensity has served Poland well on occasion here, but Klich clearly in the wrong here after a foul on Pedri.
Spain from left to right.
A little over 30 minutes remain for kick-off, so we still have some time to bide ahead of this fixture. While the football world is firmly fixated on international tournaments at the moment, the big clubs of the modern game are not going anywhere any time soon. On that note, here is transfer expert Fabrizio Romano with his weekly column for Sportskeeda!

The Poles were disappointing in their previous game and start this game as definitive underdogs. With Robert Lewandowski on the pitch, however, predictions mean very little.
La Furia Roja do have a few impact substitutes with Ferran Torres, Adama Traore, and Mikel Oyarzabal all on the bench. Thiago Alcantara also misses out on a spot in the starting XI for the second game in a row.
