India will be up against Malaysia next. The Malaysians beat Japan 3-2 earlier today. Join us tomorrow morning for the Malaysia match. Till then, its goodbye, this is Subhashish.
India started with a bang just as they did in the first match launching a barrage of attacks in the first quarter. Their efforts paid off as Vandana found the target twice. The Chinese tightened up their defence in the second quarter just after they scored through Wen Dan at the end of the first quarter. It was even-stevens in the third quarter with China pressing hard. In the final quarter, China looked dangerous but India scored off a PC courtesy of the ever-dependable Gurjit Kaur.
The Indian defence just about holding on. India simply HAVE to find a third goal to ward off the pressure or China will have an equalizer soon by the look of things.
The first quarter saw some great end-to-end hockey and India looked to have the edge. Vandana's first goal showed her amazing speed and the second found her aptly positioned to tap the ball in to the goalmouth. In the second quarter, the game was not as free flowing with both teams tightening up in their own cirlcles. India still have a one-goal lead, however, will need to consolidate soon against the Chinese who have been pressing hard.
Attacking end to end hockey on display in the first quarter. Vandana scored after a scinitillating solo run down the left flank and a spectacular reverse hit to give India the lead
