SIX! The fall of wickets at the other end has done nothing to curb KB's aggression as he calmly lofts an extra cover drive for six. That was sweetly timed.
OUT! Shijit has to go. Ganpa strikes again. And Trichy are now slowly trying to get back into this game. He completely misread that full ball and he has to go. Shijit Chandran b Ganapathy 2(6)
SIX! KB gets his FIFTY off 29 balls. That is his seventh fifty for Madurai in TNPL. And what a way to get there. That six spoiled what otherwise would have been the perfect over for Trichy.
OUT! Thala has to go. A juicy full toss and all he can do is find the fielder at long off, who takes a good catch to finally break the second-wicket partnership. Sargunam c MS Sanjay b Ganapathy 70(36)
It looks like Thala is in a hurry to finish this game. 14 runs came off this over, including two sixes and Thala will be on strike to start the next over.
Back-to-Back SIXES for Thala! The first was a hit-me ball that was clobbered over cow corner and the second was a full toss despatched just behind square leg where Ganpa got a hand to it but could only palm it over for another six.
Lots of chaos and confusion in that over but all in good spirits as far as Madurai are concerned. 10 came off it thanks to a beautiful lofted extra cover drive from KB but there was also the substitute fielder running halfway towards KB before being sent back. And not to forget the confusion that eventually resulted in just a single.
Just when it looked like Thala was racing towards his fifty, he decides to take a second to assess things. Just seven off that over from Lakshmi Narayanan.
SIX! Thala has no intention of running. He smokes one wide of square leg this time and his absolute disdain for the slower bowler is evident from his massive hits.
SIX! Thala with arguably the shot of the day so far. He dances down the track and even with deep mid-wicket on the ropes, he takes the risk and lofts a wonderful six over the fielder's head. That along with KB's boundary down the ground means 12 came off the final over of the powerplay.
MS Sanjay comes into the attack and Thalaivan Sargunam welcomes him with a couple of boundaries, first over the covers and the next wide off the slip. 11 runs were scored off it.
A successful over for Ruby Trichy Warriors as they got an early wicket of D Rohit and conceded just six runs off it. They need a couple of more overs like this to put the pressure on Madurai.
This was in many ways the ideal T20 batting performance from the Ruby Trichy Warriors. The opening batsmen put on a fifty partnership, there were no wicket lost in the power play. Although both openers were dismissed in quick succession, there was a period of quiet consolidation before a final flourish from Vasanth Saravanan and Suresh Kumar, who put 92 runs for the fourth wicket to help them get past 170.
OUT! Excellent catch by CV Varun and the Trichy innings ends on 175/4. Vasanth Saravanan is out off the last ball. 21 runs came off the last over of the innings. Saravanan c Chakravathi b J Kousik 52(28)
SIX! Not too happy with just fours, Suresh Kumar decides to just loft one over cover and picks up his first six of the innings. Already 14 have come off the first three balls.
BACK-TO-BACK FOURS for Suresh Kumar. What a start to the final over of the innings. The first was cut past point and the second was a top-edge over short third man.
Excellent over from Abhishek Tanwar but that has been spoiled by a couple of misfields. Both of them went for four and the over ended up going for 12 runs.
A tight over ends with a boundary that spoils that over. Eight came off it but will that be the last dose of spin in this innings? Eight came off the 18th over.
Vasanth Saravan makes the most of the life he has been given. After being dropped by Rahil Shah at deep square leg and picking up two runs in the process, Saravanan lets loose with a four just over cover and six over the fielder at mid off, who immediately drops back to long off. 14 came off that over.
While Madurai's spin trio have been economical, the pacers have been expensive. Abhishek Tanwar certainly proving that with an over that goes for 12 runs.
