DC vs SRH Live Score, IPL 2023, Match 40 Updates: Sunrisers Hyderabad had to keep calm despite a storm in the major part of the 198-run chase. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner on the second ball of the innings but Phil Salt (59) and Mitchell Marsh (63) accelerated with a partnership of 112 runs for the third wicket. SRH spinners clawed back their way in the game with four wickets for 28 runs in the middle overs. Some big hits by Axar Patel weren't sufficient as the hosts fell nine runs short in the end. Mitchell Marsh (Player of the Match): Disappointing loss. Took me a few games to get going. Had a great partnership with Salt but it was not enough to get over the line. The pitch slowed down a bit but I think we were chasing 20 too many. It was all about getting the boundaries and applying pressure. Quite a few positives to take from here, we have lost some close games but there is still a long way to go.

Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Hyderabad captain): It was a team effort. Good to see guys showing skill and character. I don't mind getting things wrong if the approach is right. The boys will soon see that the results are to be had. Klaasen has been in fine form and Abhishek did the hard work early. Klaasen backs himself to play his natural game, glad to see it paid off. Salt and Marsh were doing really well but Mayank's special catch turned things around. Luckily, the ball was stopping a bit and the bowlers showed great character to make use of it. This win will give us confidence and now we will travel back home hoping to build on this.

Heinrich Klaasen: About time I do something in the IPL so very pleased about it (the half-century). It was a good team effort. We finally clicked as a batting unit. Hopefully that's good signs to come. I would love it (batting higher-up the order) but the team dynamics need me to bat where I am batting. A little bit of freedom shows how we can do it tonight. Hopefully we can take this result into the next one. Sometimes, but you have to fit in where the team wants you. You need adaptability and not one-dimensional. I think at that point, the wicket had a little more turn on it. We encouraged them to bowl little bit fuller and turn it a little more. It is difficult for the big hitters then. At first, he needed a little bit of confidence. He's been bowling well in the nets so we needed to encourage him to do the same and not try anything fancy.

David Warner (Delhi Capitals captain): I think losing by 9 runs, it is quite disappointing. It was a pretty nice wicket. Mitch Marsh bowled fantastic through the middle overs. I don't think it did (whether the pitch slowed down), they bowled quite a lot of slower ones. When you look wickets in the middle overs, it's extremely difficult. He's (Axar) in good touch but for us, he's going to vital at the end with the spinners spinning it into him. We were holding him back for then but now, we could've thought about sending him in earlier. We gotta build momentum in the middle. We need one or two players to get 80+ scores and take us to a good score. Our senior players need to take responsibility.

A really crucial win for the Sunrisers here. They have ended their five-match losing streak against the Capitals here at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. With these two points, they occupy 8th place, just two points off the fifth spot.

Well, chasing 198 was always going to be difficult on this surface and after losing the skipper in the 2nd ball itself, things looked bleak for DC. However, Salt and Marsh built a foundation and put up a strong 2nd wicket partnership. They attacked in the powerplay and did not slow down after Warner's wicket. The flow of runs did not stop after the field restrictions and it looked like the duo was taking the game away from SRH.

Markande turned the tie around for SRH. Salt's dismissal opened the gates for SRH. Pandey departed pretty quickly and once Marsh fell to Akeal's trap, DC started collapsing. They could not quite get going in the second half of the run chase and SRH closed this one out with ease towards the end. Markande and Abhishek kept things tight after the DC collapse and left too much for Axar in the death overs. Axar played a few flashy strokes but they were just not enough as Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar were right on the money in the final few overs.
