So Kuldeep Yadav turned as India's player of the day. In the morning, he a scored 40 runs to provide those extra runs, a psychological advantage for any team when the lower order fires up. Playing a Test match after 22 months, Kuldeep had the appetite to prive his mettle in the red-ball format. He did by claiming four wickets in just 10 overs, three of them were bowled maiden. Kuldeep Yadav: Ofcourse, I was a bit nervous in the first two overs, was a bit lucky to get the first wicket of the first over and brought the momentum back to our side. After couple of overs, I settled in, tried to mix the pace and variation, tried to bowl from over the wicket and around the wicket, getting proper turn and was loving it in the middle.

Kuldeep Yadav: Not much with the action, been a year, I started off my journey after the injury, tried to be quicker with the air, tried to get the rhythm on my side, the pace if helping me a lot, not compromising the spin, just working on my rhythm. I've been working on both the angles, I played couple of games for Ind-A in October, I bowled a lot of around the wicket, first couple of deliveries is always tough when you start, after that you love bowling around the wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav: When I was batting I thought there was no turn on offer for the spinners, thought it will be good for batting against the spinners, of course being a wrist spinner, bowling in these type of surface with the kookaburra ball, definitely gets the turn and bounce.

Mehidy played a couple of dot deliveries before picking a single on the third. Ebadot played the last three balls with caution as Bangladesh walk the pitch with two wickets left in their innings. The third session of the second day saw 96 runs scored in 34 overs with the loss of six wickets.

Ebadot survived the final over from Kuldeep and leaves Mehidy to face the last six balls. Ravichandran Ashwin takes the ball in his hands to bowl the final one of the day.

Umesh Yadav and his brisk hitting in Test cricket is just something that can never be missed. The pace bowler smashed two sixes to Mehidy to surge the scoring rate. The second one took India beyond 400 in their total.

Quick wickets for Bangladesh as they get two after toiling for almost 33 overs. After waging an interesting battle against Taijul Islam, Kuldeep was trapped for LBW by the left-arm spinner on 40. A decision to review didn't work as India lost their nine wickets. Bangladesh would aim to wrap the Indian innings quickly from here on.

Mehidy Hasan finally gets the deadlock for Bangladesh in the second session as he forces Ashwin to once again come down the pitch to play a big hit. The batter missed and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan took his time to take off the bails.

Kuldeep has not just went after the sweeps and reverse sweeps but has also backed his traditional strokeplay. A majestic cover drive was alluring even though it fetched just a couple of runs. The sweeps continued to annoy Taijul and Mehidy as India are in a commanding position.

Ashwin and Kuldeep should keep a note of the low bounce this surface has to offer. KL Rahul can put his spinners right from the word go to get some early wickets. Perhaps after how these two have batted so far, bowling them at the start won't be a great move.

Taijul Islam trapped Kuldeep on the pads with a massive turn but the raucous appeal was denied as the onfield umpire shook his head. After a few seconds of pondering, Shakib Al Hasan gestured for a review, with not much confidence, and the ball hit near the leg stump and with the umpire's call, Kuldeep stayed at his crease. SIX!!!! Ravichandran Ashwin stepped down the pitch and hoicked it over mid-on before clearing the long-on boundary for a maximum. Ashwin takes a single the very next ball to complete his 13th Test fifty. A great intent shown by the Tamil Nadu veteran to boost the visitor's total.

If you missed then just to bring to your notice. Bangladesh conceded seven runs in one ball. It was Taijul Islam bowling the second ball of the 112th over. Ashwin got an outside edge that goes towards the third man. The fielder's throw directly hit the helmet of wicketkeeper, positioned on the ground at the striker's end. As a consequent, Bangladesh were penalised five runs that added to the couple of runs plundered by Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav.

The ball was turning more slower than quick and it assisted the likes of Taijul and Mehidy to skid the ball low. But to Indian batters' sensibility, they used their own art of spin to tackle the turns and lows with resistance.

It would be a watchful thing to see how Shakib Al Hasan makes his bowling changes. Whether he persist with spin bowlers from both ends or get Ebadot to get the breakthrough. If this partnership stretches further then it would be a thorn in the flesh for the hosts.

Mehidy Hasan will bowl the final over of the first session on second day. Kuldeep and Ashwin did a tremendous job in their 55-run stand to ensure India didn't lose any wicket after the departure of a well-settled Shreyas Iyer. India have added 70 runs in the session as their score read 348/7 after 120 overs.

Bangladesh opted for a review for a LBW call against Ashwin. Taijul pinned the batter on bats and a lout shout for a wicket was turned down. However, the hosts opted for their only review left in the innings. The replays showed that the ball hit the player outside the leg stump. Bangladesh retained their review with umpire's call stayed with Ashwin not out.

It's interesting to see Shakib Al Hasan bringing his part-time bowlers after a long spell from Mehidy and Taijul. Najmul Hossain Shanto comes in to roll his arms.

Not to forget Kuldeep has a great opportunity to make a big statement in this Test. With Ravindra Jadeja's absence amid series of injuries in the Indian camp, the Uttar Pradesh player will have to pull his socks. A good score with the bat will add to his efforts.
