MI vs KKR Live Score, IPL 2023, Match 22 Updates: Mumbai Indians have continued their amazing form in the last game to win the game in convincing fashion. Ishan Kishan's blistering 50 followed by a steady partnership between Tilak and SKY ensured that the team reached home safely. Venkatesh Iyer's century went in vain as the bowlers were unable to stop the run flow. KKR surely has some thinking to do after this loss. Follow Sportskeeda for MI vs KKR Live Score in IPL 2023.

Right then, a famous win for MI in front of a crowd who's spirits never died down! Their ESA game brings about their second win of the tournament and things are suddenly starting to look up for the Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, for KKR, they've lost a couple on the trot now and might just need to go back to the drawing board and address concerns surrounding their bowling department. That's it from our side for this contest then! Switch tabs and catch all the live action from the second game of Super Sunday as it is a repeat of the IPL 2022 Final at Ahmedabad. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for the latest news and live coverage of matches from across the globe. Until we meet again then, this is me, Maanas Upadhyay, alongside Sooryanarayanan Sesha, bidding you adieu!

19:48 (IST)16 APR 2023

Venkatesh Iyer (Player of the Match): Would have been happier if we would've finished on the winning side but happy with my performance. They've shown faith in me and it was a very beautiful wicket to bat on. Once you've scored those 30-40 runs, it's just about how you continue. Both of their new ball bowlers were swing bowlers and when you allow swing bowlers to settle down, it can be a problem. So I used my feet, went deep in the crease. After the ball stops swinging it's about how you manoeuvre. I keep getting hit in every game (laughs). The thought about going out came but my coach and players urged me to keep going. I think we fell 15-20 runs short. But given how MI were going, they would've chased it down in the next over anyways. But their death bowling was very nice. If we look at their last three-four overs, they didn't give away too many runs. Credit to them.

19:45 (IST)16 APR 2023

Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians captain): That's what we had a chat in our dugout about. We just had to carry the momentum from the last game. The guys went out and put on a show. I would have loved to finish the game but never too late. Very happy with how things went. In the afternoon we thought the wicket was a little dry but the way the guys batted, it settled down in the evening. And if you see in the evening at Wankhede, 180-190 is chaseable. Ishan batted brilliantly and got off to an amazing start. The way he batted, we needed that first punch in the powerplay and we got it. (On his form) I relaxed and had an easy walk to the wicket, took my time for the first 5-7 balls. And then I thought if I get my eye in I can take it forward. (On the firepower in the form of Tim David and Cameron Green) Absolutely, we just need to bat smart in the first 7-10 overs and later on we know what kind of firepower we have. We just did the same thing today and hopefully we carry it forward into the next few games. (On Piyush Chawla) That was a legendary spell. Every time he put his hand up and told me to give him the ball.

Time for the presentation...

19:32 (IST)16 APR 2023

In the meantime, you can head over here to follow our coverage of the second game of today's double-header. Rajasthan Royals have inserted the Gujarat Titans in to bat in Ahmedabad.

19:31 (IST)16 APR 2023

The Mumbai Indians do a lap around the field, waving flags and soaking in all the applause from the crowd. Zaheer Khan and Parthiv Patel, who were presenting, have been pulled in by the players as well. They are former MI players and have been a part of their support staff as well and MI's family values continue to be on display.

19:27 (IST)16 APR 2023

Nitish Rana (KKR skipper): I think we were 15-20 runs short. Credit to PC (Piyush Chawla) bhai the way he bowled. I feel bad for Venky (Venkatesh Iyer) - you play such an extraordinary innings, you score a hundred in a day game but you lose the match. The whole team knows this - this is the second hundred by KKR and in the coming time, even we will hit hundreds. I think they targeted our best bowlers. On such days, I can't say too much. If we could've picked a few wickets in the powerplay, we could've gone better in this match. I would like my bowlers to deliver. We will sit and talk as a unit about this.

Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets

Ishan Kishan 58(35) | Hrithik Shokeen 2/34 (4)
Venkatesh Iyer 104(51) | Suyash Sharma 2/27 (4)

A thoroughly professional chase by the Mumbai Indians and they've done it without breaking a sweat to go back-to-back for IPL 2023. This is exactly what they needed having lost their opening two encounters and there's no doubt that a chase like this will add a spring into their step as their campaign rolls along. Of course, their seamers pulled it back at the death after their spinners put in a tidy display to ensure that despite Venkatesh Iyer's century, KKR couldn't cross 185.

Rohit Sharma didn't captain or take the field owing to a stomach bug but came out to bat as an impact substitute. He made an impact with a breezy innings even as Ishan Kishan was the aggressor who set the tone upfront by tearing into the bowlers left right and center. Even Sunil Narine wasn't spared as he was carted for 22 runs off his opening over and the signs were ominous for the Knight Riders. It took a blinder of a catch by Umesh Yadav to send Rohit packing but with Kishan powering his way along, there was almost nothing that worked for the visitors.

Kishan looked to keep the charge going once he got to his half-century but ended up dragging it onto his stumps off his boots. Nothing took the momentum off their innings though with Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav not taking the foot off the gas. The latter took a bit of time but once he was in, he unleashed those trademark pick up sixes over fine leg to stamp his authority on the contest and pretty much shut the door firmly on any chances of a Knight Riders comeback.

Suyash Sharma continued to impress for KKR as he bagged a couple of wickets, setting Tilak up with a string of wrong 'uns before cheekily sliding the stock delivery in. But there was no stopping the doMInance, as Suryakumar and Tim David continued to swing at will. A couple of late wickets were all but a case of delaying the inevitable as the hosts waltzed home with plenty of time to spare, which is bound to give their net run-rate a big boost, while also upping the confidence in the team.

19:20 (IST)16 APR 2023

17.4 Lockie Ferguson to Tim Da

THERE IT IS! Full length delivery in the channel and David stands tall to ease it down to long on off his wrists before sauntering across for a single. That's how easily they've sauntered past this target today. A clinical performance and the Mumbai Indians win by 5 wickets with 14 deliveries to spare!

19:20 (IST)16 APR 2023

17.3 Lockie Ferguson to Cameron Green

goes around the wicket and angles a full one across leg stump. Green presents a straight bat as it tunnels between Ferguson's feet for a single down to long on. The scores are level!

19:19 (IST)16 APR 2023

Around the wicket to the lanky Aussie

19:18 (IST)16 APR 2023

Cameron Green, RHB, walks out to the middle

19:17 (IST)16 APR 2023

They've reviewed this one for caught behind as Nehal's tentative poke just might have gotten a little something on it. Oh well, there is a nick there indeed! Terrific review from KKR and Wadhera has to walk back!

19:16 (IST)16 APR 2023

17.2 Lockie Ferguson to Nehal Wadhera

OH! Short of a length and flying off the deck in the channel. Wadhera spars at it horizontally from his crease attempting another dab as it zips close to the outside edge and into the keeper's gloves. Gurbaz reckons there was an edge and Rana obliges with a review. Fair delivery.

Well well! There's a clear spike that UltraEdge has detected and the review works for Gurbaz, Rana and the Knight Riders. Too little, too late but still a wicket for what it's worth. OUT!

19:15 (IST)16 APR 2023

17.1 Lockie Ferguson to Nehal Wadhera

FOUR! SHOT! Back of a length delivery outside the off stump and Wadhera just uses the pace on offer. Opens the face and runs it past backward point before beating deep third man to perfection as well for four. Just 2 runs needed now!

19:15 (IST)16 APR 2023

Lockie Ferguson (1-0-13-0) is back into the attack

A decent over from Shardul, snaring the wicket of Surya there but it will be too little too late for them. MI just one big hit away from a win now and should get it in this over!

19:14 (IST)16 APR 2023

End of over 17 (9 runs), Mumbai Indians 180/4

Nehal Wadhera 2(2)
Tim David 23(12)
Shardul Thakur 25/1

19:14 (IST)16 APR 2023

16.6 Shardul Thakur to Nehal Wadhera

back of a length delivery on off stump. Wadhera holds his ground and opens the face to run it down to third man

19:13 (IST)16 APR 2023

16.5 Shardul Thakur to Tim Da

attempts a wide yorker as it comes out as a low full toss. David leans into it and slices it to deep backward point for a run

19:13 (IST)16 APR 2023

16.4 Shardul Thakur to Nehal Wadhera

slower delivery on a back of a length radar. Width on offer as Wadhera reaches for it and steers it through backward point for a single into the deep

19:12 (IST)16 APR 2023

16.4 Shardul Thakur to Nehal Wadhera

WIDE! Digs it into the track and angles it across the stumps. Wadhera arches back to let it lob over to the keeper as the square leg umpire signals a wide

19:11 (IST)16 APR 2023

Nehal Wadhera, LHB, makes his way to the middle

19:11 (IST)16 APR 2023

Looking to play his upper-cut and it's the slower one, resulting in him playing that straight into the hands of the keeper! However, it marks the end of a terrific knock from him!

19:10 (IST)16 APR 2023

16.3 Shardul Thakur to Suryakumar Yada

GONE! Suryakumar falls as he tries to get too cheeky. It's a slower bouncer pounded into the track outside the off stump. SKY half-braces his knees looking to upper-cut it over third man but fails to ride the bounce to good effect. He only manages a top-edge that nestles into the keeper's gloves but that was a fine knock from SKY!
Suryakumar Yadav c Rahmanullah Gurbaz b Shardul Thakur 43 (25b, 4x4, 3x6)

19:09 (IST)16 APR 2023

16.2 Shardul Thakur to Tim Da

very full and shaping into the stumps. David shuffles across and flicks it to deep mid-wicket for a single

19:09 (IST)16 APR 2023

Not a huge gap there but David has pierced it beautifully!

19:08 (IST)16 APR 2023

16.1 Shardul Thakur to Tim Da

FOUR! Wide of off stump on a full length and that's a big no for this field. David reaches for it with an open face and carves it over backward point for four

19:08 (IST)16 APR 2023

Shardul Thakur (1-0-16-0) is back into the attack

19:06 (IST)16 APR 2023

Timeout! Mumbai Indians have bossed this chase thus far and with just 16 more runs to get, there might not be any more hiccups as they finish this off. The Knight Riders have been found to be pretty clueless against the MI batters and apart from Suyash Sharma troubling Tilak. the MI batters have dealt with others well. Surya is nearing his fifty and will look to finish the game with a half-century to his name surely!

19:05 (IST)16 APR 2023

End of over 16 (8 runs), Mumbai Indians 171/3

Tim David 17(9)
Suryakumar Yadav 43(24)
Sunil Narine 41/0

19:05 (IST)16 APR 2023

15.6 Sunil Narine to Tim Da

length delivery outside the off stump. David leans forward into a push to cover, whose fumble ensures that an easy single is taken

19:04 (IST)16 APR 2023

15.5 Sunil Narine to Suryakumar Yada

back of a length delivery outside the off stump. SKY camps back and punches the ball to sweeper cover for a run

19:03 (IST)16 APR 2023

15.4 Sunil Narine to Suryakumar Yada

FOUR! SHOT! Length delivery on the fuller side on leg stump as it turns in. SKY transfers weight forward and brings out a flick over mid-wicket. Places it right into the gap between the two boundary riders to split the field and collect four

19:02 (IST)16 APR 2023

That seemed tight surely! Height could perhaps be the issue there but it seemed pretty plumb on first glance. No bat involves as confirmed by Ultra Edge. Hit him on top of the knee roll but he was bending down a touch. Ball tracking shows it to be missing the stumps and Surya continues his innings!

19:01 (IST)16 APR 2023

15.3 Sunil Narine to Suryakumar Yada

BIG APPEAL! That looked pretty close alright! Of course, KKR review. Length delivery on the off stump as SKY stands his ground looking to work it across the line. He plays all around it though and is rapped on the flap of his back pad. Oh this is tight unless he has got some bat on it. Fair delivery. Nothing on UltraEdge though as it passes the bat.

Ohh! The ball would have just gone on top of middle stump according to ball tracking. The on-field call is vindicated and SKY will carry on. NOT OUT!

19:01 (IST)16 APR 2023

15.2 Sunil Narine to Tim Da

back of a length and turning away a touch in the channel. David stands tall for a firm punch to long off for one

19:00 (IST)16 APR 2023

15.1 Sunil Narine to Suryakumar Yada

back of a length at the stumps. SKY stands tall and whips it to deep mid-wicket for a lone run

19:00 (IST)16 APR 2023

Sunil Narine (2-0-33-0) is back into the attack

Two massive hits in the over off the bat of Tim David and he's punished anything even mildly loose. The game heads on towards it's inevitable end and MI should ideally be looking to wrap this up in the next couple of overs to get a boost on the net run-rate as well.

18:59 (IST)16 APR 2023

End of over 15 (15 runs), Mumbai Indians 163/3

Tim David 15(7)
Suryakumar Yadav 37(20)
Varun Chakravarthy 38/1

18:59 (IST)16 APR 2023

14.6 Varun Chakravarthy to Tim Da

goes around the wicket and fires a good length delivery just outside the line of off stump. David leans forward attempting to paddle it fine but plays all around it as it strikes his front pad. Struck outside the line though

18:58 (IST)16 APR 2023

Oh that's launched into the third tier at Wankhede! How long was that? 95 metres and Russell has his hands on his head as he admires that sailing into the crowd from the deep mid-wicket fence.

18:58 (IST)16 APR 2023

14.5 Varun Chakravarthy to Tim Da

SIX! GIGANTIC! Oh that's into the top tier! Right in the slotsville outside the off stump and David is having none of it. Out comes the most towering slog sweep you will see as it soars...and keeps soaring into the third tier over mid-wicket. Even big Dre Russ watches in admiration! He knows what it takes to pull those off, of course!

18:57 (IST)16 APR 2023

14.4 Varun Chakravarthy to Tim Da

SUPERB STOP! Short and wide of off stump as David camps back and cuts it square of the wicket with an open face. The sweeper slides across by the ropes to keep it down to a brace

18:57 (IST)16 APR 2023

14.3 Varun Chakravarthy to Tim Da

slows it up and drifts it into a length just outside the off stump. David shuffles across and meets it with a straight bat

18:56 (IST)16 APR 2023

14.2 Varun Chakravarthy to Tim Da

back of a length delivery outside the off stump. David hangs back to punch it on the up to cover, no run

18:56 (IST)16 APR 2023

14.2 Varun Chakravarthy to Tim Da

WIDE! That's a wretched long hop down the leg-side as David looks to dump his heave over fine leg. He doesn't connect though, even as the keeper then fumbles thereafter. No further damage caused!

18:55 (IST)16 APR 2023

14.1 Varun Chakravarthy to Tim Da

SIX! LAUNCHED! Right in the slot outside the off stump and David comes forward launching it off his bottom hand. Just lifts it a country mile into the sky over long on and watches it travel back even further

18:55 (IST)16 APR 2023

Varun Chakravarthy (3-0-23-1) is back into the attack. He's bowling over the wicket with a slip in place.

18:55 (IST)16 APR 2023

That could've been a game-changing over had the match been set-up differently However, with MI cruising along nicely, it will only make a small dent in their flow.
