We knew that we would have to cash in the first six overs and my work was cut out. Then, we have a powerful batting line up. Me and Abhishek have a had a good partnership thus far. Heinrich Klaasen: Yeah it was an unbelievable start for us. Special knock from Head. Coming in there I had little bit of time. Was sensible in knocking around. When it's Head day I prefer to stay at the non strikers end. I tried to take the charge after his dismissal. I am not training a lot to be honest. Had a good session two days ago, fixing my swing and a couple of drills I do. Just keeping things simple and fine tuning the little things. We knew that it was a good wicket but we just needed to execute five overs. They also batted brilliantly, we won seven of those overs so we are on the right side of the result.

Faf du Plessis (Royal Challengers Bangalore captain): Yeah much better. Proper T20 wicket. It was crazy the amount of runs that were scored today. Is a world record I guess. Yeah it's tough, we have done quite a few things behind the closed doors but the different things hasn't been working. Game of cricket is difficult when the confidence is down. When you are not on top of your game, there is nowhere to hide. We have to keep trying some different things, maybe bring in leg spin in the middle overs. Yeah I think similar from our batting perspective. We felt there were areas where we need to address. We wanted to up the ante post the powerplay with the scores being put up. The boys never gave up, there is a bit of fight in us but 30-40 runs too many from the bowling perspective. I mean that's important, you need to go away and freshen your minds. It's a mental game and when you have defeats like this you can feel that your mind can explode. Really uphill task for us

Over 13000 T20 matches have been played since the format's inception and never before have we seen that many runs being scored. SRH broke their own record from a fortnight or so ago and scored a massive 287, riding on knocks that were filled with imperious ball-striking.

The only reason we did not have our jaws on the floor was because we have seen that kind of carnage twice before in the tournament. It was the 3rd time 270+ was notched up in IPL 2024. But SRH won by only 25 runs in the end. On a day like that, you have to make note of some vital bowling contributions.

The first was Mayank Markande who bowled economical 3 overs and picked up the wickets of Kohli and Patidar to peg RCB back when they were motoring along. Then, was captain Cummins, who kept on producing chances on a wicket that wasn't exactly a bowler's friend. With figures of 3/43 in 4 overs, he can hold his head up high.

RCB fans would be disappointed. However, they will take from this match an innings that would be cherished for a long time amongst that loyal fan base. Dinesh Karthik hit 83 in just 35 balls. What if he came out to bat a little bit early? Well, there is no place for "woulda shoulda and coulda" as they say.

In the end, it is SRH who take the two points and Travis Head's hundred that would remain in the memories longer.
