WWE SmackDown Live Results July 31st 2018, Live Commentary & Updates

Here's a recap of what happened:

Becky Lynch was blindsided by Carmella, only to be saved by a returning Charlotte Flair
Paige announced that Charlotte would take on Carmella in the main event, and if she won, the women's title match at SummerSlam would become a Triple Threat
Samoa Joe sent a big message to AJ Styles
Randy Orton AND Shinsuke Nakamura brutally assaulted Jeff Hardy
Zelina Vega defeated Lana
The Miz sent an 'infantile' message to Daniel Bryan
Charlotte Flair defeated Carmella to make the title match a triple threat at SummerSlam

I'm Pratyay Ghosh and it's been a pleasure as always bringing the latest of RAW and SmackDown to you! Good night/morning/evening from wherever you are in the world!

Charlotte finally locks in the Figure-4. bridging to the Figure 8, and Carmella taps out. Charlotte will be added to the SmackDown women's title match at SummerSlam.

Charlotte def. Carmella

Charlotte follows up with the Natural Selection for a nearfall. Charlotte goes for a Spear but can't hit it. She goes for a Figure-4 instead and Carmella rolls her up for a 2 count. She follows it up with a Superkick to Charlotte for a nearfall.

Carmella hits Charlotte with a big boot and Charlotte replies with an even bigger boot. She rolls Carmella up for a 1-count and goes for a Figure 4 but the champ grabs the ropes and leaves the ring. Charlotte follows up with a baseball slide dropkick before hitting a moonsault from the barricade.

Charlotte forces Carmella to let go of her grip but Carmella sends the back of Charlotte's head crashing into the middle turnbuckle.

Carmella has a head lock locked in tight. Charlotte is far from the ropes but manages to make it back to her feet.

Carmella and Charlotte go back and forth as we head to an early conercial break. Back from the break, Carmella gets her knees up to a moonsault attempt from The Queen. The action spills to ringside and Carmella hits a hurracanrana before dumping Charlotte into the timekeepers area.

If Charlotte wins tonight, she'll be added to the women's title match at SummerSlam.

Bryan tells Miz to get off his set, to call his agent and fight him at SummerSlam. Miz tells Bryan to sto being a crybaby and to go away,

Miz continues taking shots at Bryan. He says that he made Bryan famous after his promo on Talking Smack. Bryan replies that the reality was that Miz would never become The Rock or John Cena.

The Miz appears on the Titantron. He tells Bryan he isn't on the indies anymore and to face him, Bryan needs to call his agent.

Daniel Bryan is out next. He congratulates the women for WWE Evolution before addressing The Miz. He slams Miz for hiding behind his wife saying Bryan will always win a fair fight between them.

Lana heads to the top rope and Almas tries to distract Lana. Aiden English comes out and pulls Almas off as Vega rolls Lana up for the win.

Zelina Vega def. Lana

Vega takes Lana down by the hair before hitting a neckbreaker. Lana feels the momentum and follows it a knee to the back of the head for a nearfall.

Lana vs Zelina Vega

Vega seems over confident as the match begins, posing in the middle of the ring for Lana. Lana takes Vega down and the latter rolls out of the ring.

Lana faces Zelina Vega next and its her in-ring debut in WWE.

Becky is backstage with Renee Young. She seems resentful that Charlotte is getting a chance to get a spot in her title match.

Orton puts Hardy on the announcer's table and puts water on his face, wiping away Hardy's face paint.

Orton attacks the helpless Jeff Hardy, hitting him with a Draping DDT before dragging Hardy to the apron and hitting a DDT onto the floor.

Nakamura is also out and he follows Orton striking Hardy by hitting Hardy with a Kinshasa. Nakamura then slides out of the ring.

Jeff Hardy is out after the break and after what happened on SmackDown last week, Hardy calls out Orton. Orton obliges as his music hits. Hardy looks livid as Orton makes his way down to the ring.

Samoa Joe is out to address AJ Styles next. Joe says he respects Styles but he says that AJ doesn't spend enough time with his family because he's always trying to be the best. Joe adds that after what he does to AJ at SummerSlam, his wife and kids will get their dad back.

The Usos go for the double Frog Splash but Cesaro comes in with a nasty upercut as Sheamus catches the other Uso with his knees before rolling him up for the 3-count. The Bar are going to the finals.

Sheamus gets rolled up for a nearfall before eating a Superkick. Jey Uso then hits the Frog Slash but Cesaro breaks up the count.

Back from the break,Jimmy Uso hits Cesaro with a corkscrew moonsault from the to rope.

Jimmy Uso heads to the top rope bt Cesaro pushed him off and out of the ring into the barricade.

Cesaro went for a Sear in the corner on Jey Uso who sidestepped him. Both men made tags and Jimmy Uso came in and got a nearfall off Cesaro.

The Usos vs The Bar

The second match of the SD title tournament sees The Usos vs The Bar. The New Day are at a special pancake themed announcer's table at ringside.

Paige isn't happy for Carmella for building the women up only to blindside Lynch. She says that champions have the odds stacked against them to overcome. Carmella takes a shot at Paige saying she'll never be a champ again. To teach her a lesson to be a "real champion", she puts her in a match against Charlotte Flair later.

And if Charlotte wins, it's a Triple Threat at SummerSlam!

The Usos are backstage in an interesting, druggy environment. They cut a Rock Style promo and cut off right before they welcome The Bar to the Uso pentientiary. It's The Usos vs The Bar, winner faces New Day for #1 contendership at Summerslam for the SmackDown tag titles. It's up NEXT!

Carmella wishes her good luck, but Becky Lynch doesn't buy it. James Ellsworth's music plays and the champ blindsides Becky Lynch, taking a steel chair from underneath. Cue the returning Charlotte Flair!!
