WWE SmackDown Live Results (July 7, 2023): Roman Reigns taken to Tribal Court, Edge returns

Roman screams at Jey to put down his belt. Jey says in the trial of the Tribal Chief, he's now looking at the Judge, the Jury and the Executioner. He says this will now have to be settled in trial by combat and implores Roman to accept his challenge.

Solo tries to cut Jey off at ringside, but Jey leaps over the barricade and sends Solo head-first into the ring post. He now grabs a steel chair and runs into the ring.

Jey smashes the Tribal Chief with the chair. Solo runs in and grabs the chair. Jey superkicks Solo and now DESTROYS him with the steel chair. Roman Reigns can't believe it. Roman now reaches for the WWE Universal Championship belt.

Roman is out again, flanked by Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa. The Usos music hits and Jey is marching down through the crowd.

Paul Heyman is backstage with Roman Reigns. He informs Roman that Jey Uso is back in the building and looking for him. Roman says he will wait for Jey in the ring.

Edge with a word of praise for Waller before he leaves.

Edge goes for the Spear but Waller sidesteps. Waller now goes for the Somersault Stunner but it's a miscalculation. Edge gets a second bite at the cherry and cuts Waller down with a Spear. 1-2-3.

Edge def. Grayson Waller

Waller now drops Edge with a spinning forearm. Edge hits an Edgecution out of nowhere but Waller kicks out at 2!

Waller fights back again with a right hand. He now hits a Twisting Unprettier, a move out of Christian's playbook.

Edge hits back. He powerbombs Waller off the apron and onto the concrete. Back in the ring ,Edge heads up top. Crossbody from Edge! Kickout at 2.

Waller cuts Edge off again with a knee to the gut. He now locks in a chin lock while talking trash at the Hall of Famer.

We're back from the break and Waller is still on top. He hits a Tornado DDT and gets a nearfall, spiking Edge on his injured neck.

Waller hits back with a sliding clothesline out to ringside as we cut to a commercial break. Waller has looked pretty decent so far. He has to be nervous facing a legend like Edge on his SmackDown debut.

Edge with a knee to the gut and Waller goes down. Edge follows it up with a kick to the gut. Waller fights back, but Edge nails a Fallaway Slam.

Grayson Waller finally wrestles his first match on WWE SmackDown and it will come against a living legend - Edge.

Asuka is in the ring, and the SmackDown Women's Champ says no one is ready for her. Bianca Belair's music hits, and she rushes to the ring to go after Asuka.

Charlotte is also out. As Charlotte and Asuka brawl, IYO SKY attacks Asuka from behind. Bayley tries to cash in her MITB contract on behalf of IYO, but Bianca and Charlotte take Bayley and SKY out.

AJ hits the Phenomenal Forearm, and it's all over as quick as it began. He made that look so easy.

AJ Styles def Karrion Kross

AJ Styles vs Karrion Kross

Kross has his left leg heavily taped, but he makes a strong start to the match, smashing AJ Styles with the Kross Hammer from behind. He tries to lock in the Kross Jacket, but Styles breaks free. Scarlett tries to get involved from ringside, but Michin boots her in the head.

Edge doesn't look pleased. He says Waller has been on SmackDown for half a hiccup and now it's time to sink or swim. Edge says he's not retiring and, in fact, he has a match tonight... against Grayson Waller.

Edge talks about his first WWE Premium Live Event, which took place at SummerSlam 1998 in Madison Square Garden, and thanks the fans for their support and respect. Waller now jumps the gun and says Edge is retiring.

Grayson Waller wants Edge to get to his big announcement. Edge says he's celebrating 25 years of his career this year. Waller asks him why he's back in WWE and he says it's for the fans.

Grayson Waller is out next and will be hosting Edge on his talk show. This will be Edge's first WWE appearance since WrestleMania.

Sheamus smashes Kit Wilson with a Brogue Kick, but Theory rolls him up to retain the US Championship.

Austin Theory def. Sheamus

Sheamus has a Cloverleaf locked in, but Pretty Deadly now runs out. Sheamus breaks the hold, but he smashes Elton Prince with the 10 beats. Theory surprises Sheamus with a dropkick. Sheamus clocks Theory in the jaw and picks up a near fall. Ridge and Pete Dunne are now out.

Theory hits back with an elbow strike and heads up top. Sheamus cuts him off and catches the champ with an uppercut. Sheamus is looking for a White Noise off the middle rope but can't hit it.

Theory tries to use Sheamus' own move against him, going for the 10 beats. He only gets a couple of shots in before Sheamus turns the tables. Sheamus hits a knee drop off the top rope.

We have the US Title on the line next as Theory defends his championship against Sheamus.

We're back from the break and Jimmy Uso is being taken to a local medical facility for treatment.

Security has come out to try and stop Solo Sikoa and Roman Reigns. Solo hits Jimmy Uso with a Splash through the table.

Roman has lost it. He smashes Jimmy Uso in the head with the title belt, follows by a shot with the steel steps. Jey Uso breaks free again! He boots Solo away and attacks Reigns. Solo hits Jey with the Samoan Spike and tosses him over the announcer's desk. Roman barks at Solo to finish Jimmy Uso.

Jey Uso is back up and Solo takes him out too. Roman now hits Jimmy Uso with a Superman Punch. Solo now traps Jey Uso in the ropes as ROman sets his sights on Jimmy Uso.

Roman takes the Lei off and puts it around Jey's neck. He now tosses his title aside and gets down on his knees. Jey is sympathetic, but Roman hits him with a low blow out of nowhere. Jimmy has had enough, and he attacks Roman. Solo tosses Jimmy across the ring.

What will Solo do next? He Spikes Jimmy!

He says The Usos compiled his worst moments to embarrass him while Roman has taken the weight of everyone's family. Roman says he doesn't need this, and he says he's done with all of them and The Bloodline.

Roman Reigns says that's not the real him in the footage and he was forced to do all that. He says he did it for The Usos and for The Bloodline. The fans aren't buying into it. He says he didn't need The Bloodline, but they needed him.

Roman asks how the Tribal Court can be called if the Tribal Chief hasn't called it. He calls the trial a scam. The Usos say Roman can't talk his way out of it and they have a video of his transgressions.

We're back from the break, and Roman is inside the ring. He wants the fans in Madison Square Garden to acknowledge him. Reigns says he got pinned at MITB, but the last time he checked, he was still the Tribal Chief. He's greeted by 'Tribal Chief' chants. Roman asks The Usos if they hear what the fans said. The fans now chant for The Usos.

Paul Heyman will be acting as defense counsel for tonight's Tribal Court. He says only Roman Reigns can get him to stop talking. But Solo puts his hand on the mic and stops Heyman. He now stares down The Usos before Reigns' music hits.

Jimmy has the mic, and he says everyone thought Roman Reigns can't be pinned, yet The Usos pinning him in London. Paul Heyman interrupts proceedings and comes out with Solo Sikoa.

SmackDown kicks off with the victorious Usos, and the fans are right behind the heroes after they beat Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa.

SmackDown is underway and we have the Tribal Court for Roman Reigns tonight as well as Edge on the Grayson Waller Effect.
