5 UFC fighters that were shoved down our throats like Roman Reigns

reigns
Roman desperately needs repackaging

We just can't get enough of Roman Reigns - at least, that's what the WWE want us to be saying. Over the course of the last two plus years the company have been promoting the idea that Reigns is the next top guy in the business. Unfortunately, no amount of effort has been able to prevent the undeniable hatred that the WWE Universe possesses for The Big Dog.

There's still a chance that he could come back from this of course, but right now it's not looking good. However, one issue that we have regarding MMA fans that like to laud this fact over us is that it's happened on quite a few occasions in the UFC too. Whilst things aren't exactly pre-determined over there, a number of top name guys and girls have been shoved in the faces of the audience.

It happens in alot of sports around the world, but the UFC as a promotion tend to pull that card more often than others. All five people we're going to discuss are perfectly capable fighters, obviously, but that doesn't mask over the fact that we've seen a hell of alot of material on them over the years.

So with that being said, here are five UFC fighters that were shoved down our throats like Roman Reigns.

Paige VanZant

vanzant
VanZant is beautiful – we get it

Paige VanZant is a beautiful woman with a charming personality and a fascinating fighting style. However, the UFC love to parade her around as if she's honestly the next Ronda Rousey. That is not an overstatement, either. Something needs to change when it comes to how they portray this girl because at this point, fans are getting a little bit sick of her.

It's not as if she isn't talented, but we just don't want to be reminded of her every time we turn a corner. Over exposing a talent is a dangerous thing, as we can literally always relate back to Roman Reigns. It's okay in short bursts, but in the grand scheme of things who is it really helping? Just limit what's happening and let VanZant do her thing naturally.

Onto Paige's male equivalent.

Sage Northcutt

Poor old Sage

Super Sage Northcutt isn't so super after all following his recent loss at the hands of Mickey Gall. The youngster was forced to eat a big old piece of humble pie after the defeat, and it made alot of fans quite happy as they were getting pretty sick and tired of the guy. Why? Probably because the UFC were billing him to be the next big star in the company.

It made sense given his youth and clean cut look, but it continuously turned alot of people against him. It felt as if Sage was a natural heel that the company were trying to get over as a babyface, and that kind of thing never works out. If Northcutt wants to succeed at the highest level, he's going to have to change some things up in a big way in the next few months.

Did someone say Notorious?

Conor McGregor

mcgregor
McGregor is a big deal, didn’t you hear?

Conor McGregor is one of the biggest stars in the world. We get it. He's the first man to hold two UFC titles at the same time. We get it. It's time to change the record because right now, McGregor is everywhere and that can only serve to frustrate the viewing audience. Everyone will want to see him get knocked out soon enough, which will ironically be great business for the UFC if nothing else.

However, everyone has a limit when it comes to how much material they are being provided with on one specific topic - and we've hit ours. We want to see Conor be promoted when a fight is coming up of course, but when it comes to rumours and what he's doing on a day to day basis leave that to the people who actually want to follow him on Twitter.

It's time for the Cowboy.

Donald Cerrone

cerrone
Take some time off, Cowboy

Look, we aren't saying that we dislike Donald Cerrone here - in fact it's quite the opposite. The Cowboy is an extremely fun fighter to watch both in and outside of the octagon, and he's one of the most popular guys in the UFC. However, his consistency when it comes to fighting an average of four fights a year is getting to be a little too much to handle.

First of all it plays up to the title of him being shoved down our throats, and second of all it's just uncomfortable to watch. He shouldn't be taking fights with guys like Masvidal on such short notice, and should instead be focusing on recovering. Cerrone could obtain some real long term health issues if he keeps this up, and it's better for everyone if we just see him fight sporadically over the next twelve months or so.

We conclude with a recent addition to the list of UFC champions.

Cody Garbrandt

garbrandt
Will Garbrandt be knocked off his perch?

Cody Garbrandt is the freshest and hottest young face in mixed martial arts right now following his decisive championship victory over Dominick Cruz. However, it seems as if all media outlets have forgotten we actually watched that happen and instead insist upon reminding us every two minutes. Plus, the over exposure of Mr No Love is looking to expand in a very big way over the next few months.

The Ultimate Fighter is a great reality show, but unfortunately it suffers in one key department - we see too much of the coaches. That isn't necessarily a bad thing if we know what their personality is like going into the series, but with Garbrandt there are still so many questions up in the air. Plus, it seems as if he isn't going to pull any punches when it comes to the verbal back and forths with Dillashaw.
