On the main card for the night in the main event of the night, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane faced Valerie Letourneau in front of her home crowd, defending her UFC Women's Flyweight Championship. She retained her title in front of a hometown crowd who cheered her on in the main event of Bellator 213.
Macfarlane was able to defeat the veteran Letourneau by an excellent Rear Naked Choke in the third round of their fight. A slow start would see both fighters tightly locked in a fight for supremacy, it came when Macfarlane was able to secure an early takedown in the third round of their fight. She was able to take Letourneau’s back and from there worked in a Rear Naked Choke which she transitioned into an armbar. Finally, she transitioned to a Triangle Choke forcing Letourneau to tap out.
Lyoto Machida made his debut in Bellator at the co-main event, and after being well-matched with Letourneau for most of the fight, his wrestling dexterity saw him come away with the win in a Split Decision.
