Breaking: Bantamweight matchup set for UFC event on April 22

UFC 236 Holloway v Poirier 2
Rising prospect Montel Jackson is set to fight on April 22

The UFC Fight Night event scheduled for April 22 will feature exciting bantamweight prospect Montel Jackson as he takes on Rani Yahya.

Jackson's management team broke the news via Twitter.

Jackson heads into the bout on the back of a three-fight win streak. Yahya presents a very serious threat, with a wealth of experience and world-class submission skills. The UFC veteran is going into the bout after winning two in a row but is making a return to the octagon after a fairly long layoff.

Yahya was last seen in the octagon when he beat Kyung Ho Kang in November 2021. Meanwhile, Jackson fought as recently as November last year, when he beat Julio Arce at UFC 281.

Montel Jackson is one of bantamweight's most promising prospects

A well-rounded fighter, Montel Jackson boasts a record of 12 wins and only two losses. Both his defeats have come by way of decision. As for his victories, he has a healthy balance between decisions and finishes by way of strikes and submissions.

In his last outing, Montel Jackson displayed stellar striking, both offensively and defensively, and beat Arce comfortably. He also currently owns the record for knocking down his opponent in five consecutive fights. Jackson has garnered a lot of attention, with Umar Nurmagomedov calling him out recently.

The fight card on which Jackson is scheduled to appear in April features a heavyweight main event, as the surging Sergei Pavlovich takes on Curtis Blaydes. The card has plenty to keep fans excited, and the addition of this bantamweight bout only serves to heighten the anticipation.
