Dooho Choi is prepared and ready to make his long-awaited return to the octagon this weekend after spending over three years away from the sport, with his most recent fight coming all the way back in December 2019.

'The Korean Superboy' was one half of the 2016 fight of the year when he put on a phenomenal display against Cub Swanson back at UFC 206. Despite coming up short, the stand-up specialist showcased his heart and grit as the two featherweights exchanged big shots back and forth over the three-round affair.

While discussing the event on February 4, Dooho Choi couldn't hide his excitement as he spoke about his return to competition, insisting that he cannot wait to prove that he belongs at the top of the game.

"It's been a while [since I last competed] and I've been looking forward to it and I can't wait to prove myself on Saturday night... I have great offense, great striking, but I lacked in defense. So I've been improving my defense a lot during the time off... I've been developing a game plan and strategizing, also in [attempts] to not gas out and make it to the end of the fight... I'm gonna go in there and look to dominate, I'm gonna dictate the fight with my game plan and show a dominant performance... I'm gonna make a statement."

Choi will be welcomed back to the UFC by 18-fight MMA veteran Kyle Nelson, a rugged Canadian who is capable of outworking his opponents no matter where the brawl takes place.

Dooho Choi's career in the UFC thus far

The 31-year-old entered the octagon with a record of 11-1 and quickly got to work with a 18-second knockout in his promotional debut against Juan Manuel Puig who was a promising submission finisher at the time.

In his next two outings, Dooho Choi put together a further two knockout wins, beating both Sam Sicilia and Thiago Tavares in the first round of their bouts. These matchups were the most recent wins of his career, having gone 0-3 since his impressive start to life in the UFC.

The aforementioned clash with Cub Swanson and back-to-back TKO losses to Jeremy Stephens and Charles Jourdain completed the Asian's six-fight run in the company.
