Danial Williams hasn't had the best run of form recently. But, it never stopped him from going all out every time he stepped inside the ONE Championship Circle or ring.
The Thai-Australian firebrand is coming off a crucial unanimous decision win over Banma Duoji in their 136.25-pound catchweight MMA matchup at ONE Fight Night 25 this past weekend at Lumpinee Stadium.
Heading into the card, Williams fought arguably four of the most dangerous people, Jeremy Miado, Superlek Kiatmoo9, Jonathan Di Bella, and Lito Adiwang.
His matches against Di Bella and Superlek were also for world titles.
Williams first challenged Superlek for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 8 before moving down to his then-natural strawweight to challenge then-holder Di Bella for the division's kickboxing strap at ONE Fight Night 15.
Williams, though, fell short in those string of matches, and beating Banma in Bangkok meant the world to the three-sport phenom.
Taking to Instagram, Danial Williams expressed his relief in finally breaking his skid as he hopes to regain his form in the flyweight division.
Williams said:
"I just wanna say thank you so much for the support. Finally got the win, it's been a long time coming. I knew I just had to really change my style, I just wanna go in there in MMA but I really had to be patient. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here."
He added:
"I had to really be patient in this fight in MMA. It's a different style, but I really want a Muay Thai fight next. I haven't had one in a while, I wanna stand and trade with someone, probably get uglier than this. But, you know, I'm always gonna put on a show and I just wanna put that excitement."
Danial Williams' striking proves pivotal in unanimous decision win over Banma Duoji
Danial Williams is the prototypical striker who found success in mixed martial arts.
Despite competing under the sport's multi-faceted nature, Williams relies heavily on his kickboxing and Muay Thai backgrounds whenever he fights.
Williams had no qualms about unleashing his ripping hooks against Banma, a pattern he returned to throughout the three-round fight.
'Mini T' even avoided grappling exchanges against Banma to impose his striking advantage.
With the win, Williams improved his MMA win tally under ONE Championship to four victories.
