MMA News: CM Punk in fantastic shape ahead of UFC 203

Ready to beat up, or get beaten up?

On December 6, 2014, Former WWE Superstar, CM Punk made headlines both in the Pro-Wrestling industry and the MMA industry when he announced at UFC 181 that he had signed a multi-contract deal with Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In January Punk began training under Duke Roufus at Roufus MMA Academy alongside former UFC Lightweight Champion, Anthony Pettis, and ONE FC Welterweight Champion Ben Askren. Punk would drive for three hours from Chicago to Milwaukee for his training, showing everyone just how dedicated he really is into doing this, but later shifted temporarily to Milwaukee just so that he could train more.

Sadly, in October 2015, Roufus announced that Punk had suffered a shoulder injury, delaying his UFC debut to next year. On February 6, 2016, Punk was diagnosed with a Herniated Disc in his back, thus requiring him to undergo surgery.

At the same time, Mickey Gall called out CM Punk on his “Lookin’ for a Fight” show on UFC Fight Pass. Dana White was in the audience when this happened and liked Gall’s personality, and promised Gall that if he beat Mike Jackson he’ll be given his match against CM Punk. Gall defeated Jackson via submission and was given his match as promised. Later Punk on UFC Unfiltered announced that he and Gall would be going off against each other at UFC 203 on September 10, 2016, in Cleveland.

So, how is Punk looking with his debut match just around the corner? Well, nobody knows how improved Punk’s fighting skills are, but his physique has changed considerably. Punk seems to have trimmed down and the photo below shows that he’s actually in really good shape.

What do you think? Will Punk win his match against Gall? Or will Gall prove to be the better man? Please, tell us your thoughts by writing them in the comments section below.
