Adrian Yanez and Sean O'Malley had reportedly agreed to fight one another, however, the fight never came to fruition. The No.13-ranked bantamweight recently shared that he believes the two will meet if he picks up a knockout win over Rob Font at UFC 287.

Speaking to John Morgan of MMA Underground, Yanez stated:

"If I go out there and I starch Rob Font, that does amazing things for my career. That does amazing things just for what position I get put in. I changed my life getting into the UFC and every fight after that has changed something else about my life. It's only been great things. I only see this fight as changing my life for the better and I 100% plan on doing that."

Yanez added that a victory would move him to the sixth spot in the bantamweight rankings, which should give him more opportunities, adding:

"Inevitably, it's gonna line me up for the bigger names and possibly give me a fight that has kinda been looming around for a little bit which is the Sean O'Malley fight... Me going out there and knocking out Font, it's only going to make that fight so much more interesting and so much more bigger than what it would have been if it would have happened back last year."

Sean O'Malley seems destined to fight for the bantamweight title in his next bout, however, it is possible that he and Yanez will meet down the line. The bantamweight title picture is currently crowded so it will likely need to clear up before the two face one another.

Sean O'Malley calls for Henry Cejudo fight as Aljamain Sterling recovers from torn bicep

Aljamain Sterling recently revealed that he is dealing with a partially torn bicep tendon, making March an unrealistic timeline for his next title defense against Henry Cejudo. Sean O'Malley, who is in line to face the winner of the matchup, called for a title opportunity against the former double champ if the current bantamweight champion is unable to compete.

The No.1-ranked bantamweight took to Twitter, stating:

"Is AljoComain fighting Henry or not I’m confused ? He Said his bicep is torn. If that’s the case let me beat up Henry"

Sterling responded by noting that he has offered to fight Cejudo in April, however, he will look for new opponents if the former double champ is unwilling to wait. While fans have called for an interim title fight, it appears unlikely that Sterling, who last defended his belt in October 2022, will be ready in April.
