Aljamain Sterling has responded to Belal Muhammad after the welterweight fighter joked about Sterling's friendship with Merab Dvalishvili.

UFC fans are well aware of the friendship between Sterling and Dvalishvili. The two have been training partners for years and share a very close bond. However, what makes their friendship tricky is that they both fight in the same weight class. That said, the pair have made it clear on many occasions that they will not fight each other.

Joking about the same, UFC star Belal Muhammad took to Twitter and raised the question of what would happen if Sterling and Dvalishvili's friendship ended up having the same fate as Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal's friendship.

The UFC bantamweight champion curtly replied by saying:

"Don't do that."

Take a look at the tweet below:

At one point in their careers, Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington also shared a very close bond. Both fighters were teammates and just like Aljamain Sterling and Merab Dvalishvili, they fought in the same weight class.

However, it wasn't long before the two stopped seeing eye to eye. The animosity between them grew so much that they ended up fighting in a grudge matchup last year.

Dana White gives his thoughts on Merab Dvalishvili refusing to fight against Aljamain Sterling

Merab Dvalishvili has made it known that he will not fight for the UFC bantamweight title as long as Aljamain Sterling remains the champion of the division.

While talking about it during the post-fight press conference for UFC Fight Night 221, UFC president Dana White did not seem too pleased with Dvalishvili's decision to put his friendship with Aljamain Sterling above the UFC title shot. White suggested that the story wouldn't end well and stated:

"You can still be friends and want what your friend has. It would be a really bad idea for Merab to go down that path... Does Merab want a shot at the title? Or would Merab rather have people under him jump over him and him have to take on all these different tough guys when he's not even getting a title shot when he's next in line for it. That's a personal decision that he needs to make, if that's what he wants to do. I can tell you how that story ends, it's not a good ending to that story. He's a big boy, he can figure that out on his own."
