UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is one of the more active fighters on social media. He often interacts with fans and engages with them on Twitter and Instagram. Sterling also regularly uploads content to his YouTube channel, FunkMasterMMA.

A fan on Twitter recently tried to take a dig at the Jamaican-American by citing that he is always willing to respond to his detractors on social media by linking to an MMA Fighting article.

Check out the tweet below:

Sterling quoted the tweet and responded in affirmation, reasoning that he does not believe in changing himself due to his growing fame and popularity:

"Yes. I like to remember that I’m just like everyone else. Popularity, and name recognition doesn’t make me act different. I’m me whether people like it or not."

Aljamain Sterling also engaged with fans replying to his tweet and admitted to getting carried away at times with his interactions. He also appreciated the fans for recognizing his efforts to stay grounded and continue connecting with them.

Sean O'Malley speculates about the Aljamain Sterling vs. Henry Cejudo fight not happening

Former bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo is slated to return to action after vacating the title and retiring in 2020. Cejudo is reportedly likely to Aljamain Sterling in a title match upon his return, but the UFC has not confirmed the fight yet.

No.1-ranked bantamweight contender Sean O'Malley voiced his concerns on the fight announcement being delayed. He said on the TimboSugarShow:

“It drives me crazy. Why is this not happening? I don’t think it’s a money thing. I don’t. The UFC would say, ‘All right, next guy.’ It's not a money thing, in my opinion. UFC said here’s what you’re going to make. Henry literally retired because he wasn’t getting paid enough and now he’s broke and wants to come back. He’s coming back to make the same amount."

O'Malley also claimed that Sterling is not a big enough draw for the promotion, something he proclaimed to be common knowledge:

"Aljo’s not going to get paid more. He’s not a draw. That’s just facts. That’s not me throwing shots. Aljo would say the same thing. He’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m not a draw, I don’t have fans.’ He knows. Everyone knows. Is it a weight thing? Is it an injury lingering? What is it? I’ve got to get to the bottom of this. I’m hiring a private investigator to follow them both around.”
