Amanda Nunes vs. Kayla Harrison is the next UFC women's bantamweight title fight, and 'The Lioness' herself spoke to Jon Anik and Brett Okamoto on the UFC 316 post-fight show about when the fight could take place. The promotion has made no official announcement regarding a date. It's simply too early.
Only recently did Nunes make her return official. So a fight is still several months away. In fact, according to the legendary Brazilian, fans should only expect her to return closer to the end of the year, as she needs enough time to prepare optimally for the bout. She said:
"Honestly, if I stayed [at] American Top Team, then this fight might not [have] happen[ed]. So, I'm glad that I made the right decision, opening my own studio, my own gym, and now I do my own camp with my coach that I set up everything with, and I feel like I don't know [when], to be honest."
Nunes added:

"I'm going to really get in camp now full-time. I was training here and there, and always in shape, and honestly, like November, December. I'm going to be ready to go before the end of the year."

Promotion for the fight has already begun. To a certain degree, at least. After the two-time Olympic champion dominantly submitted Julianna Peña at UFC 316, she took part in an impromptu face-off with Nunes inside the octagon. It was respectful, intense, and set the stage for the biggest WMMA fight of 2025.
Amanda Nunes hasn't fought since 2023
It's been two years since Amanda Nunes last fought. Her last appearance was at UFC 289, where she scored a comfortable unanimous decision win over Irene Aldana, who froze before the great Brazilian. It was a successful women's bantamweight title defense for Nunes.

Nunes vacated the belt 10 days later. Now, though, she is ready to get back into the mix. If she manages to beat Kayla Harrison, who is the new women's bantamweight champion, Nunes will reestablish her record of having beaten every single UFC champion in women's bantamweight history.
