Former two-division world champion Aung La N Sang recently shared some insight into the difficult process of challenging for a world title vs. defending it.

Seeing as there are multiple belts on the line at ONE 163 and ONE on Prime Video 4, such as Akimoto vs. Petchtanong for the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title and Abbasov vs. Lee for the welterweight belt, Aung La N Sang seems to believe that challengers to the throne have a slight advantage.

Speaking about Christian Lee in particular, the Burmese-American icon shared his opinion on why he believes Lee has a good chance of winning his second gold strap on November 18.

He told The MMA Super-Fan:

“When you’re the one who’s looking to conquer, you have a little more energy [than] when you’re trying to defend the kingdom. The person that’s hungry to conquer - it’s easier for them. They have a little more energy than the person who’s defending the kingdom.”

Aung La is also trying to claw his way back into world title contention. Sensing that he could have another good run at middleweight, ‘The Burmese Python’ is holding on to the hope of crossing paths with Reinier de Ridder to reclaim his belt.

However, the pathway back to the mountaintop will be a difficult journey. After a nine-month gap, Aung La N Sang returns from a loss to Vitaly Bigdash at ONE: Full Circle to fight Japanese MMA legend Yushin Okami at ONE 163.
