Former two-division world champion ‘The Burmese Python’ Aung La N Sang will make a quick turnaround following his impressive first-round knockout of Japanese MMA legend Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami at ONE 163.

Aung La will head to Bangkok for ONE on Prime Video 6 to take on ‘King Kong Warrior’ Fan Rong. Aung La got back into the win column after dropping three of his previous four, including back-to-back losses against ONE middleweight world champion Reinier de Ridder. The Myanmar native will look to win two in a row for the first time since 2019.

China’s Fan Rong will make his fourth walk to the circle when ONE returns to the Great City of Angels on January 13. 2-2 under the ONE banner, Rong will aim to get the 'W' after coming up short in his last appearance at ONE: Winter Warriors II against former middleweight champion Vitaly Bigdash.

Prior to that loss, Rong had scored two straight against Sherif Mohamed and Yuri Simoes. Fan Rong’s biggest fight to date inside the circle came against reigning middleweight king Reinier de Ridder in 2019. ‘The Dutch Knight’ scored a first-round submission over ‘King Kong Warrior’ in his promotional debut.

Aung La N Sang knows he needs to win a few more to climb back into title contention

Just over two years ago, Aung La N Sang was on top of the world as holder of the ONE middleweight and light heavyweight titles. Unfortunately, the two meetings with Reinier de Ridder changed that, but ‘The Burmese Python’ is hoping to get back into the title picture and feel the weight of ONE gold around his waist again.

Of course, Aung La recognizes that he’s going to need a few more wins under his belt before talk of a title opportunity can commence. In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Aung La N Sang stated that he can evolve and become competitive under the ONE banner again:

"I have really high-level grapplers at my disposal that I can work with. So it's not a matter of, ‘Can I do it?,’ it's a matter of when. It's going to take time, I'm probably going to have to beat a few more guys. So it is what it is. I'm willing to climb back to the top."

ONE on Prime Video 6 is live and free for all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
