Shortly after Kayla Harrison became the new UFC women's bantamweight champion, she called out Amanda Nunes, who was in attendance for the UFC 316 PPV event, for a face-off.

At UFC 316, Harrison dethroned Julianna Pena and claimed the title in the women’s 135-pound weight class. The five-round bout ended with a second-round submission victory for the two-time Olympic gold medalist. Following her win, Harrison immediately called out Nunes to the octagon, and both fighters expressed their desire to face each other next.

Harrison became the UFC women's bantamweight champion after just three fights in the promotion. Meanwhile, Nunes is considered one of the greatest female fighters in the history of the organization. Although she retired in 2023, the Brazilian has announced her comeback to face Harrison next.
