Bibiano Fernandes is shutting down any discussions about retiring soon.

"The Flash" has been terrorizing the ONE Championship bantamweight division for years. He held the belt from 2013 to 2018, then regained it in 2019 with his second reign lasting until 2022. Everything changed when John Lineker landed a vicious body-head combination that ended Fernandes’ second world title reign.

During an interview with ONE Championship, the former bantamweight king responded to concerns about his ability to bounce back at 42 years old by saying:

“I am 42 years old, but with a body of 30 and a very healthy mind. I take good care of my body and my mind. As long as my body and mind are fine, I will keep fighting. I don't see this as my last fight. Randy Couture fought until he was 48. Anderson Silva is 47 years old and still fighting, so I think I still have a lot of wood to burn. The Bibiano Era will not stop here.”

Fernandes is wasting no time before jumping back into the fire. Eight months after losing to Lineker, ‘The Flash’ is fighting rising contender Stephen Loman at ONE on Prime Video 4. The winner will likely earn a world title shot against Lineker or Fabricio Andrade, depending on how their rematch for the gold concludes in February.

Bibiano Fernandes believes he’s the most dominant ONE world champion of all time

Bibiano Fernandes is an eleven-time bantamweight world champion for ONE. Considering he held the title for 2924 days, it’s difficult to argue against him being the greatest bantamweight in ONE Championship history. While doing an interview with ONE, ‘The Flash’ claimed to be the most dominant fighter in promotional history by saying:

“I could see one thing: I was the most dominant champion in the ONE Championship. I defended the belt several times, while others who won the title in the division failed to do the same. I fought for the belt 11 times, and I don't know if there will be another athlete who will be able to do what I did. I was the most dominant fighter there ever was in the ONE Championship.”

At 42, Bibiano Fernandes could have another world title run left in the tank. First, he must take out Team Lakay’s Stephen Loman, who trains with several former world champions. If ‘The Flash’ beats Loman, he has a tough mountain to climb against John Lineker or Fabricio Andrade.

The former bantamweight champion takes on ‘The Sniper’ at ONE on Prime Video 4 for free on Prime Video for all Amazon subscribers across North America.
