Bibiano Fernandes will go down in ONE Championship history as one of the promotion's greatest ever champions.

The two-time bantamweight world champion successfully defended his title eight times, racking up seven consecutive defenses in his first title reign. In a recent Instagram post, Bibiano Fernandes posted a video of his first fight in the promotion which took place way back in 2012 against Gustavo Falciroli.

Fernandes shared the video with the caption:

“My first One Championship fight I am blessed to have written such a victorious story in the organization and as they themselves like to say: there is no other champion like Bibiano Fernandes 🥇🔥 #BJJ #BJJ #Karate e #BeastMode #Fight #Fitness #familia #Asia #Motivation"

Fernandes won the fight via unanimous decision and kicked off a run in ONE Championship which saw him win the interim title before unifying the belts in October 2013 in his third fight with the promotion.

Fernandes is yet to return to the Circle after losing his world title to John Lineker earlier this year. He is scheduled to return against Stephen Loman at ONE on Prime Video 4 in November.

"It’s about pressuring him" - Stephen Loman believes he has the key to beating Bibiano Fernandes

At ONE on Prime Video 4, rising contender Stephen Loman will take on former two-time bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes. Riding a two-fight win streak since joining the promotion, this will be Loman's toughest test to date in the Circle.

The fight will be Fernandes’ first return to action since losing his world title to John Lineker in March earlier this year, a fight which Loman believes he can draw a lot from.

Speaking to ONE Championship, Loman revealed what he learned from watching Lineker have success against the champion at the time:

“It’s about pressuring him. Could be in striking, wrestling, or on the ground. It’s all the facets of MMA.”

Lineker’s relentless style led to him finally capitalizing on an opening, letting his infamous combinations go and stopping Fernandes in the second round. Despite coming off of a loss, Loman was quick to point out that Fernades’ legacy in the sport is assured and no single loss is going to change anything:

“I don’t think so. He’s still the champion Bibiano that we know. He still has that striking and wrestling prowess, that superb control over his opponent on the ground, and submission maneuvers. He didn’t rust at all.”

Stephen Loman vs. Bibiano Fernandes is scheduled for ONE on Prime Video 4 from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 18.
