Derrick Lewis has reportedly been released from the hospital after being admitted on the day of his UFC Fight Night clash against Sergey Spivak. Dr. Jeff Davidson, who works with the UFC, made the revelation to MMA Junkie.

Lewis recently pulled out of his UFC Fight Night main-event clash against Sergey Spivak due to health concerns. 'The Black Beast' was reportedly hospitalized on the day of the event, forcing the cancelation of the headliner.

Commentator Brendan Fitzgerald specified during the broadcast that Lewis was forced out due to a "non-COVID, non-weight cutting illness." Dr. Jeff Davidson also revealed that 'The Black Beast' was hospitalized due to stomach issues.

News of the cancelation of the main event initially surfaced on Twitter. Initial reports also suggested that Lewis wanted to fight even after he was released from the hospital.

This is yet another blow to Derrick Lewis' momentum that had propelled him to an interim title shot not too long ago. 'The Black Beast' has been unable to bounce back since dropping a lopsided third-round TKO loss to Ciryl Gane, going 1-3 in his last four.

Coming off back-to-back knockout losses, the UFC's plans for the once-feared KO artist are unclear at the moment.
