UFC 287 is fast approaching and the promotion's next pay-per-view has fans eagerly awaiting the incredible April 8th card. However, one of the fights has been canceled following a gruesome injury one of the fighters suffered in training.
Injuries are an unfortunate part of the sport and show no sign of slowing down due to the wear and tear fighters endured throughout years of vigorous training regimes and high-intensity bouts. A number of blockbuster matchups have been forced into the abyss due to wounds that these warriors obtain prior to events.
As announced on social media earlier today, promising lightweight Nikolas Motta has been pulled from his fight-of-the-night candidate clash against Ignacio Bahamondes at UFC 287 in two weeks' time:
"Don't swipe left if you have a weak stomach. I had this accident [for a] couple days by a headbutt in wrestling practice and my coaches and people that I trust made the decision to ask to pull back my fight [for] 3 weeks to have enough time to heal this or it would easily open [up] in the fight... I had a lot of stitches all my career but never had one deep like that... I just need [a] couple weeks to heal that, [I] 100% trust the process and finally be back."

After an impressive spell in the Contender Series, Nikolas Motta found his way into the UFC but didn't make a memorable debut. Midway into the second round of his first appearance in the octagon, the Brazilian was finished by veteran Jim Miller. He followed that up with a huge win over Cameron VanCamp last time out and hopes to have another big display the next time he makes the walk.
